central locking prob / plipper

Just a quick one, if anyone knows the answer.

Couldn't get into the car with the keyfob today, opens ok with the key, but the alarm light keeps flashing until the key is inserted into the ignition. All the other doors open ok if you use the button on the arm rest. The keyfob does lock the car ok though.

Fuse issue, or duff keyfob?

TIA
Rich

is it under warranty?

i had a few intermitent problems with my key fob.. even after i changed the battery.. where the car wouldnt unlock..

Is it the rectangular key fob or the round one.. does it havea red light that comes on when you press a button?

If it doesnt light when you press the button its the "blipper" as seat call it.

i mentioned it a day before the car whent out of warranty when it was having its service.. and camberley seat replaced it.

try batteries first

http://www.seatcupra.net/knowledge_base/fitting_guides/key_battery_change_guide..html

then a recode

firstly try the door lock to make sure the central locking works anyway -
always worth a check :)

this will sound daft but bear with me :) you will need 2 keys - not
neccesarily remotes just a second one that you can use in the ignition

right ya ready (read through it first to get the run down)

1 - get both keys - the one with the remote (A) and the normal key (B)

2 - note this must be done within 30 seconds as the synchro process cuts
off after that (all will be revealed)

3 - make sure the car is unlocked and the window open before you start

4 - use key (B) to switch on the ignition (lights on dash NOT startup)

5 - use key (A) to lock the drivers door manually (ie key in the door lock)
or NS if you have the 2002 on model with only one door lock

6 - now UNLOCK then LOCK the drivers door WHILST HOLDING the unlock button
on the remote

7 - once done take key (B) out of the ignition - sorted

after that if its warranty - book her in - might just be a duff blip

Thanks.

I'll try changing the battery first...

It's the round key, and the red led doesn't come on when I press it. Although i'd have though it wouldn't work to lock it either if the battery was flat!

Again, would the remote still lock the car if it was out of sync?

Cheers,
Rich

if its out of sync it may just unlock or lock the doors and then again might not work at all

it couls just be a knackered remote - ie broken path on one side

try the recode first

Firstly sorry for bumping a fairly old topic

My key fob packed up the other day, i'v got no led when i press the buttons on it so i asume the batterys flat. Tried looking at the link on how to replace the battery, but its now dead. Now with the battery being completely flat on my, fob will i have to take it to Seat for a reprogram? Or will following the above info work once i'v replaced the Battery.

Thanks in advance

Hi all, I'm trying to figure out why I'm having difficulty coding my key fob and came across this thread (had been following the one on the Ibiza forum). In step 5, I'm a little confused by the '...or NS if you have the 2002 on model with only one door lock' - I do have a 2002 model (02 Leon Cupra) with just one driver side door lock so I've been using that - I am meant to be doing something else?
