May need to refer to this myself soon, apparently my HID's have arrived and are on their way to me, so should get them in a day or two at most. Will look into getting some upgrade sidelight bulbs to complement the hid's thats better that OEM bulbs.

had a look on his site, good guide. I see the marked visual improvement in dipped.

With the sidelights what are they known as i.e number on the powerbulbs site for example for the Leon?

With meltdown on the cards with the LEDs what's the best sidelight to buy in terms of matching up with the HIDs please? On my focus ST I was able to fit LEDs with my xenons as the gap was sufficient for the LEDs not to melt anything and after 9months use they hadn't. The LCR is different though and I think I will place it safe and take heed of your advice Pat.

I dont have HID just uprated Phillips power vision bulbs,

Dipped beam is Phillips H7 - PVPH7 £ 24.95

High Beam Phillips Blue Vision H1 - PBVH1 £ 19.45

At the mo they are doing the sidies free if you buy any dipped/ high pair.

Sidies are Phillips Blue Vision W5W - PBVW5W £ 9.95

Philips Vision Plus and Powerplus whats the difference?

Cheers, think I may order the Philips sidelights W5W but at 9.95 perhaps I might be better just ordering a set of headlights -could give them to my dad:)

Anyone tried these?Looking on powerbulbs they are currently doing Buy 1 get 1 free on these new Power Plus (they are £5 more) but if 2 people wanted these it'd be a good buy.

Philips Vision Plus H7 Pair PVPH7 £ 24.95

PowerPlus H7 Pair PBPPH7 £ 29.95

It's always handy to keep a spare set anyway mate, especially a spare set of the same type of bulb so you don't have an odd pair should one blow :)

HID kits and side/parking lights

Been speaking to powerbulbs that seem to have both the excellent offer of free sidelights on pair of headlights ordered plus BOGOF offer on thir new Power Plus range.

I've been in conversation with the guy and he was telling me how poor and mainly unsafe these HID kits are (just after I received mine only yesterday!) saying that manufacturer/dealer fitted xenon lights are far safer as they have their own motor linked to engine (self-levelling, washer etc as we know) and in event of an accident they would shut down wheras the HID kit lights would not shut down and electrocute you??!!!! any proof/evidence of what he was talking about?

He was advising me to send these HID kit back...but I dont know.

In the meantime think I'll order these bulbs anyway from powerbulbs, can't be a bad thing.

Hmm that sounds a bit suss to me .... they're fused through the standard fuses for the lights so in the event of a problem they'd simply blow a fuse and shut themselves down. Admittedly anyone grabbing a hold of the bare wires / light when they're working would be at risk of a shock .... but anyone who is daft enough to perform work on any electrical part without first ensuring that power is disconnected deserves to get shocked.
