Hello all,

Hello all, just bought this for my Mrs and I noticed that the charge air cooler has been bypassed. Is this bad? What should I look out for. 2.0 TDI 150bhp mk3 Leon fr

Yea that's not going to be doing it's job if the coolant line is not connected.

Could be leaking internally and needs replacing.

Cheers for the reply, I suppose my intake air isn't cooled hindering performance slightly. I'm guessing I'd be alright w holding off changing it for a while ?

Poor performance, bad fuel consumption, over fuelling. DPF and EGR could be clogging up with crap because of it.

Repair bill could be enormous if other components get damaged by leaving it.

Most likely done because of internal leaking of the chargecooler, which is pretty common unfortunately.
But without the chargecooler being actually used, the intake temps will be sky-high, resulting in poor fueling, potential knocking and less power.
Go back to where you have bought it and have them fix it (new chargecooler/intake manifold)..

I've recently changed mine - as I thought mine was leaking - but I have been pressure testing my old chargecooler in a big bucket of water and I can't see any leaks, so I think my leak is elsewhere like maybe my egr cooler.

Was going to put it on ebay if you're interested?
It's an expensive part when new.
