Charging at Home

I have had exactly the same on my first charge after a few stop and starts the charging light on the car turned red and I had to unplug and plug in again to get the charge going.

Last two charges have been fine less not being ready on time due to smart charging extending the time. I think I need to play with the charging window to find the optimal time. Today I switched to Max charge to finish off the last 2%.
So I've unpaired the Cupra from the Ohme App - I read on another forum that this pairing was causing issues for somebody.
I've turned off having to approve charges (for the moment).
I've set a schedule in the car to charge to 80% and selected a 0000-0700 window (my cheap rate).
The Cupra App now shows "Charging Paused" - so hopefully it will start at midnight and in the morning will be sat at 80%.

Success 😀
Charged as per the schedule set in the car.

Next time I will turn back on the Ohme authorisation and if that’s ok try re-pairing to Ohme - still using the car schedule.
If all that’s good I’ll try a schedule on the Ohme again, if that fails I’ll just know to only schedule charging via the car.

I think that the car and charger conflict at times causing issues interesting to see which one works better as I have heard others say un-pair from Ohme and use the car schedule. The stop start changing nature of Smart charging is the issue I have noticed and means the car does not fully charge on time.

So I've read on another forum that there as a 'CP Fix' that Ohme can send to the charger which keeps the comms alive between the car and the charger to stop the failing scheduled charges (appears the car sleeps and doesn't respond when the charger is ready to start).

Works fine if I plug in and start charging right away.

I chatted to Ohme support and they have asked that I first try unpairing then re-pairing the can and try a charge schedule again. If it fails after this, they will update my charger with the fix. Will try a scheduled charge again Monday evening.

Yes, that's what I've done and had a successful overnight scheduled charge.

I have turned off dynamic charging in the Ohme app. Then turned on price cap to limit charging to cheap rate times. As dynamic charging seems to cause issues with multiple charging times and pauses - with dynamic charging off it now charges in one go. Also, I don't need to schedule via the car either.

Might try that too

TBH we should not have to between Ohme and Cupra their should really be some form of FAQ or tips. Neither give great instructions - simple things like you can only turn dynamic charging on or off when unplugged or why use Ohme schedule over Cupra schedule. Software wise, I don't feel it is very robust and all too easy to get a charge error. Another too much complexity and not enough useability - as you simply want to plug in and have the car charge at x time for y time.

With my security architect hat on, I am fed up of IT where neither the use case or context has been properly considered. Then time wasted trying to fault find and configure as the vendor just chucks the tech onto the market, with the minimum standards and lets the customer bug fix and sort out issues for them...

Great book is 'The Uncountability Machine', more finance leaning; but explains why systems have so many issues these days - as no one knows how the system works, AI based being one example. With ten layer telephone systems hoping the customer goes away another as customer service is really now 'lip service.' The bottom of the business no longer communicates with the top of the business as the top is uninterested, due to being solely focused on maximizing income and profit.

Yeah I see it throughout my work life all the time. Some new system is rolled out and the users hate it and want the old system back.
Too much design by committee without talking to the end users to find out what they want and how they intend to use it.
End up with new whizz-bang features that nobody wants or needs and the core functionality is lacking or non-intuitive to use.
