So my car is soon due for a service (2 weeks or so), and I'm wondering what I need done. It's an '07 so will be it's 4th service, and currently has 21000 miles on the clock. What do I need done? I know I'm definitely NOT paying silly stealer prices to get it done, if it's just the oil filter and engine oil, I'll get it done at a local indy garage.

if its only on 21k then i would say oil, oil filter, air filter (maybe), sparks, fuel filter and maybe pollen filter. Thats what i did when i did mine.. + do it yourself!! :) i did mine and it worked a treat.

how many miles have you put on the ibiza in the past year??

Well it was last serviced at 15471 and I've just hit 21000. So 5500 ish...

I know a couple of local garages that do oil and oil filter changes for £40-50 or so. I could grab a couple of genuine filters from David @ Sere and get them to fit them instead?

And you're right, I do need an air filter and spark plugs.

sounds like a plan, its not to hard to do, the hardest thing for me was trying to ease of the oil sump plug. Tbh the 1.2 are easy to work on as the engine bay has so much space, when compared to the bigger 1.4 & 1.9 - mainly as they are 4cyl & have an bigger air box etc

brake fluid is due every two years, so that'll need changed. Also, i'd still get your car serviced at a proper garage because you'll get a stamp in the book. Your car's still worth a few grand so might as well keep it that way.

Hmm, I just checked my paperwork and the brake fluid was done on my last service. Are they just taking the mick or what?

It says 'carried out 30,000 mile service - changed brake fluid'.

They did the oil filter, oil and brake fluid (along with the brake servo pipe that split).

Does that mean I only need my oil filter, oil and air filter changed?

Personally I do an oil and filter change every 5k, with air filter and pollen filter changes every 10k (with the oil and filters again of course). Fuel filter every 20k as it isn't neccessary according to the service plans, on a petrol there is just no interval for it.

I don't think you'd have any problems if you did similar.
