mines got one and mines Y 2001, never used it to be honest and whoever suggested using it as a power connection for a amplifier DONT! the cigarette lighter sockets cables are rated at 15-20amps max, most amplifiers will draw more than that and you'll still have to run a signal cable and remote turn on lead so you wont save yourself much hassle!

i cant believe somebody would run an amp off it, you need at least 8awg wiring for a decent amp.

Good you would set fire to your fusebox! :rolfmao:

Didnt use it in the end, it was one of my mates that suggested it, it wasnt to power it, it was to use it as a remote wire, but now i used it from begind the stereo itself, its wired up and sounding mint so no worries their

couldnt use it as a remote wire anyway thinking about it as it would be on all the time

Ciggie lighter in the boot must have been a option if we both have the same reg/year but i dont have one and you do ???????

or maybe your car was built on a friday afternoon and pedro decided to nick the socket and flog it down the local spanish market?

what audio have you got in yours now then? i fitted a phoenix gold amplifier i bought for my girlfriend  but didnt get round to fitting it in her KA, sounds good with the standard speakers, wanted to use alpine hi-low level convertors as they are deffinately the best and give the least interferance but couldnt wait so got the girlfriend to pick me up some cheapy halfords ones, do the job ok, had huge interferance first but then realised the earth should be connected to the deck and not just any earth point, works well now with only the slightest bit of interferance with the engine running:clap:

2 rockford fosgate 12", 1 x 2600w v16 powering subs, 2 kenwood componants in front and rear powered by 400w amp, all powered by 1.5 powercap

for my earth i scraped off the paintwork around the bolt for a true connection, never had any problems since fitting, dont get any interference

i was told that it was standard on the cupra, but it seems alot of people found they were missing it when they bought their cars, pretty sure it was standard though

Definately not standard on UK spec cars.Brochure(00 & 01 & Cupra R) only mentions as standard ICE,6 speaker system and radio/cassette,was offered as an optional extra when I bought mine.02 reg with no cig lighter in boot.

Seems a bit random then as to wether or not you have one fitted. Wonder if the wiring is hidden away down behind the carpet, as i could really do with one in the boot as i have a lot of RC hobbies and usually have to wedge my dirty truck thats usually covered in nitro fuel in the passenger footwell in order to charge it with my car charger, would be soooo much easier in the boot.

I have one in mine, or rather did have one but removed it, IMHO depends what pedro could lay his hands on when building the car.

Other subtle differences to look out for;

1) back of rear bench seat carpetted or not
2) hand brake warning light where it illuminates on the dash
3) Tyres the car came with (ok prolly not relevent now)
4) Cd Changer (mine didnt come with one from new)
5) anti slip mats in centre console and log book tray (again none in mine)
6) Bonnet engine seal (yup you guessed, not on mine)

think there are a few more

mine has one! 2000 x plate but it didn't come with a changer had to buy that after, the back of the seats were never carpeted were they?????
