Civic TYPE R Ariels

Now then guys noticed a few of you have Civic Type R Ariels, do you need the full ariel and base or can you just get the antenna, i have recently managed to get the civic antenna but i cant seem to get my standard antenna to come off of the base after hours of unscrewing!! Any ideas cheers!

Hold the base with one hand, then with the other hand, once unscrewed, give a sharp hard tug. Its a 'security' feature. Apparently.
