under the bonnet on my gti 8v is really not a pleasent sight. i have tryed degreasing engine bay and give it a quick jet wash but still dosent look clean. is there any companys out there who specialze in this kind f work ?? i really wanr ro make the engine bay a focus point of my car but i dont no where to start. thanks :D

i would reccomend the following. i used this method and got really good results

- Apply gunk foam spray (Allow 10mins to soak)
- Rinse with fresh water.
- Re-Apply Gunk Foam spray on the hard to clean areas, and give a good scrub
- Rinse with fresh water

- Then use a plastic trim gel to darken the engine cover, fusebox, airbox etc etc
- Make sure you apply polish and wax to areas of the paint that can be seen under the bonnet.
- Also one thing that is overlooked, and can make a big difference is actually under the bonnet itself, if the car doesnt have sound proofing under it.

i used autoglymm engine and machine cleaner ( degreaser )

spray it all over engine bay get a paintbrush to rub it in then jetwash it off

excellent stuff !

i use Meguiars APC diluted with water 4:1. this is sprayed all over the engine bay and aggitated with various brushes. i then use the jet wash to rinse down and then close the bonnet and run the engine for 10-15 minutes to dry the majority of the water off. Anything left is wiped up with MF cloths and then i apply CG's Bare Bones dressing over everything and then close the bonnet and leave it.

couple of hours later i give the whole thing another wipe over and done.

just be careful around anything electrical. dont direct the jet wash at the engine, just almost spray across it or mist over it all...

it might be worth covering the electricals in foil or cling film while cleaning... obviously removing it before starting the engine.

Agitation is the key to cleaning a dirty bay. Mine isnf too unpleasant to look at now :( but i have only tried to clean it twice and before it was minging under they, when you used a megs slide lock brush after appling sum degreased or apc i used p222 or sumthing Total Wash? It can ip nice after i rinsed off then wheb dry spray over sum plastic protector let dry then soak up any patches left after a while couple of hours it you can wait that long. Cover up anything you not sute abour, induction cone, electrics etc with carrier bags, cling film or tin foil. Dont put tin foil in stupud places though like over battery terminal lol uncover before start as said by the other guys.

Agreed.

Note from myself, when jet washing off do not soak the engine bay, stand back meter or 2 and spray. Also cover any exposed wiring. Also trick is to get a waterbased dressing.
