The clutch pedal on my Leon Cupra 2001 has come disconnected from the master cylinder plunger. Looks like some plastic bit came off and a small bit of metal cam unwelded. :(

Does anybody know how to get the clutch pedal out ? I understand I can either get a new pedal or have the old one re-welded. As there is no Haynes manual, has anybody done this job ? How does the pedal come out and re-fit ?

OK we got the clutch pedal out and can see the bit of metal that broke off - just need to get the pedal back in after repair or a new one - see tomorrow.
Any helpul advice welcome. Do we need to bleed the clutch hydrolics ? How ?

OK got a new pedal and plastci bits (about £23 total). Manged to fit the pedal without releasing the hydrolics. Fitted the pedal pivot bolt, pre-compressed the return spring with wire and sticky tape and got it into position; then forced the clutch operating lever into the locating metal holder on the pedal arm.

Must be a proper way to do it but brute force and persistance got the job done !

This is such a common problem on all VAG cars with haudraulic clutches! I got the metal tab welded up after I broke my second pedal, there’s a built in fault, the welds aren't up to scratch!

The welds on the new pedal are slightly bigger but we'll get the old one re-welded in readiness for the next time.
You can't even look out for it to see if it's about to go - there is a black plastic cover over it as an end stop.
