Warranty!

So tell me, how does the clutch fair in the scheme of things with SEAT Warranty?

My clutch doesn't seem very happy at all at the minute and I am really quite eager to find out where I stand with Seat.

Can anyone spread any light on the situation for me?

Cheers all.

Sorry its a Mk4 for TDI FR its done 19k. Its been superchipped, but I am willing to get it removed if it means Seat will warrant my clutch!

the superchip could be your problem and it will definatly void your warranty im guessing the clutch is slipping or is it faulty anouther way????

Its slipping like David Furnish's **** on Eltons lube up ass hole mate. 2200rpm - 3000 the clutch is playing catch up. I've just had the car serviced and it seems to be running better which has made the clutch even more noticeable.

I will get the chip removed if needs be. Apparently SuperChips have their own warranty!?

the diesel models have a great tendansy to get clutch slip when more power/torque is added either get an uprated clutchor ditch the chip

Or get Seat to replace it under warranty and drive it far more sympathetically that the previous owner?

you could take the chip off go to the dealers and tell them your getting clutch slip if it still slipps without chip that is! then when replaced put chip back on and if problem persists an uprated clutch or chuck the chip question returns!

And so does the original question, is the clutch covered under warranty. Also they didn't detect the chip today when it went in for the service?

I would of thought the clutch was covered against slippage provided the car has an original map/ecu

you may well get a new clutch if you ditch the superchips then get a proper remap that gives smooth power delivery or less torque

the clutch isnt covered under warranty with the chip or any engine modifications! but remove the chip the clutch will be replaced underwarranty but only if you can show the clutch is even slipping on standard non chipped power!

Ok cheers guys. The superchip wasn't the chip of choice it was fitted by the previous owner. I've emailed Superchips for the terms and conditions of their warranty. So lets see what they cover. Can a main dealer detect a ecu remap???

yes they can but revo do a switchble map where of a switch of a button it can be mapped then when wanted can be swithced back to standard undetectable!custom code can be turned on and off with vag.com!

My cupra tdi is standard and my clutch is on its way out after 23k, my Seat dealer basically told me to **** off when I said it should still have plenty of life left in it and shouldnt be failing after so few miles! Said they would have to take the gbox out to have a look and if they deemed it wasnt component failure I would be liable for the costs of all labour and replacement parts, so I told them where to go, the B*****DS!!!!!

when the 110's first came out saw at least 2 turn a flywheel blue with less than 6k miles on em

record for a clutch on a tdi with genuine normal use is 580 miles - NOT JOKING

clutch warrunty

have the diesel cupra and have had clutch slipping since 9k miles, checked on warrunty it is warruntied for first 7k miles but after that your on your own!

have had seat mechanics driving mine as didnt know what it was at first (didnt believe the clutch could fail so early) they could not find anything wrong,
uprated clutch is expensive and shouldnt be neede in an ideal world but sadly it will only get worse i can now hardly accelerate in gears 4,5 or 6.
have figured out my own ingenious way of stopping it slip though.......

i should recieve my new cupra in about 3 days:banned:
