Thinking of getting one of these for my LCHas anyone managed to get us a discount from Cobra?

Also, what air filter would you guys recommend to replae the original?

Looking into having a play with the car and do a few upgrades, but limited on funds and I'm not looking at going mad with the power.....Although there is a guy near me that tinkers with VW's who says he can get me a stage 1 tune on the cheap :)

Will probably be getting direct from Cobra as they are local to me and only 200 yards from where the Mrs works, so she can take it to work, let htem fit it and pick it up on her way home :)

Received my cobra today, took it exhaust place and it didn't fit  rang exhausts uk (cobra supplier) and they have sent a cupra r back back and a cupra middle section! :wtf:

All sorted and the new one is coming Monday! Did as for a downpipe as compensation but told me to do one

A bit of advice to anyone getting a 3" cobra exhaust....

I am running a 3" turbo back, decat, non res non baffled system on my Cupra R. Because it is the non res non baffled system it is loud. Loud in the car and loud out of the car. It sounds amazing outside the car, low to start and gets raspy as you get faster, love it, often drive with the windows down just to hear it.

But - and there is a but.

It is loud when you are doing general driving (mine is my daily driver) and I know if you buy a 3" system dont expect it to be quiet / dont complain because its loud, but I wish for the extra £30 I had chosen resonated and baffled in order to get a quieter drive. It is boomy and bassy when accelerated (not even hard) around 2.5k rpm to 3.5k rpm. When you do this in 5th or 6th gear (so around 60-80mph) it is very loud and I can bare it although sometimes annoying, but the missus - not so happy!

I may have to contact my local exhaust specialist and ask them to weld a small silencer in the middle to help make it quiter either that or put some sound proofing under the carpet! however if someon has bought a centre pipe that is resonated and wants a non res - ill happily swap!

Hmmm that's unfortunate bud. Maybe cos of the decat?

As I said previous, mine is great. So quiet round town. Only time u hear it is on start up or on WOT. I was THE biggest critic of getting an exhaust to (due to the boomy nature of full systems) so if I'm impressed then the folks on here that aren't of the 'youthful' look and aren't after the bleeding eardrums like some of the younger members you will love this exhaust.

So worth the money. As I posted in my RR thread. The 3" catback isn't designed for a lowered/slammed LCR. As I'm starting to get a knocking on my rear beam. But other than that it's quality.

Mines 2.5" due to it being cat back I'm not looking to decat the car yet so hopefully the non resonated won't be too loud! (hope he says)

Seal the 2.5 will always be quieter. But trust me on this.....at first it will seem loud and I initially thought 'oh no I've f**ked it' but give it a few hundred miles and it settles right down believe.

'I BELIEVE' (shouted in an American cult voice)

I'm happy with my choice even if it ain't in the car yet and when the cat falls apart I will decat but if it's too loud I'll sort something lol

My 3" dp de-cat and resonated back is fairly quite when just driving normally and not really much different to the standard exhaust driving down the motorway 70/80! On boost though sounds awesome! I tend just to drive with the windows down, never get bored of the sound ;)

I think that by the time I get the decat I will be used to the noise so a little more won't matter (that's what I'm telling the wife anyway)
