Coil Light Flashing

Morning Guys,


Just dropped the mrs off this morning, and as I pulled over, the coil light started flashing. Drove the short distance to work with it flashing and everything seems fine. Turned car off and re-started it, it all starts ok but its still flashing.
Ive done a search and it seems its an electrical fault. Is this restricted to the engine bay, or could it be something as trivial as a brake light etc????

Car is an 05 TDi FR

I agree . Checking the brake lights is a very good place to start. It's a common fault – I've had four new brake light switches on my two SEATs.

I drove my new sport out of the garage, booted it and the light started flashing - took it back and they fitted a new brake light switch in minute - light gone

Where is the brake light switch located then, and how do I tell if its broken??

yep is usually the brake light switch, which is mad really.

However it may go off with an ecu rest. just disconnect battery for 5 mins, but maesure you have stereo code before you do it

Mine has started doing it since fitting LED Rear brake lights! I'll try reverting back to see if that sorts it.

Probably will mate. Have heard loads about LED lights causing electrical probs.

Put the originals back in and all is well again. Very strange! Might try a new switch.
