Hi guys really needing help here, I have an 05 leon fr 1.8t auq and cold startups a nightmare, I have p1296 coolant system malfunction and I have changed the coolant sensor with no luck, thermostat seems fine it gets up to temp after a few mile and stays there, the car smells like its overfuelling especially through the cabin heaters but my main fault is cold startup it will start up no problem sit at idle nice soon as you rev it up or try to move away she cuts out or coughs and splutters and pops then once revved up a few times shes fine, anyone any ideas I have just bought some plugs to stick in it but I think its mainly down to my p1296 error?

Also have a fault with it dropping boost up the rev range but im not sure if that's linked?

Drives mint after a few mins, im not ruling out the possibility of a naff sensor as its from europarts and I know what there like,

will check that but would that not just cause it to slowly rev up, I do have a snap on diagnostics which gives me the option of a throttle body reset too

Mate mine was cutting out and jumping all over the place. An wouldn't idle! I Changed my temp sensor(5min job) and all was well!

Ive changed the cts though matey but for an aftermarket item from euros which im thinking may just be knackered, ive tried to see if my snap on diagnostic will read coolant sensor value.

It does give a coolant temperature value but I don't know where its reading It from possibly the gauge sensor?

I think I might get a proper sensor from the dealers

Could be your aftermarket one is pooped mate!
Believe me it causes masses of problems! Was having to rev mine at least 2500rpm to make it move most of the time and then would tick over( sometimes) at about 450 rom. Sounded awful!

yeah mine pops and bangs and cuts out, you can tell its overfuelling too, if I unplugged the sensor the cars no different at all but the error code changes to high input so the wiring is ok, I think a trip to the dealers for a proper sensor.

It could well be sticking. Yes you should reset it once youve cleaned it. Carb cleaner is ideal for this.
Fingers crossed its that as its nice and easy

Pcv system of the right of.your rocker goin to the underneath of the intake manifold, it gets oily gunk in and cuts out, clean the hoses and.carb clean the pcv, should.sort it out ive jus done mine.and.it runs.sweet, you might want a.catch.can to save you doing it again
