Collapsing silicon tip!

Hi all,
Well tonight I asked my friend to rev the car for me while I have a look in the bay, and I've found that the TIP completely collapses, it sucks together! Have I found my boost problem??

yup, i would say so dan... airflow will be cack through that, big restriction.

is it oem tip?

Some £60 TIP that a guy from here recommended me ages ago by PM, I can't believe it collapses like that, no wonder my turbo sounded struggling for air when the boost drops off

what gets me is that there wont be any boost built up by simply reving it while someone looks on, it at least needs a rolling road usually. so im surprised its collapsing... it must have failed seriously.

Yeah I will be, yeah pretty sure Autobahn 88! They got a bad rep then?

Got a link for a well priced THS tip? I'll order immediately as I'm now pretty certain I've found my problem. I've searched the bay high and low for leaks really got me confused

would defanitively change this asap aswell as if its collapsing surely wont be doing the engine or turbo any good.

the autobahnn 88 actually have a decent rep on vw vortex, but as said above, when just revving they shouldnt really collapse... is it seated properly on the turbo with no kinks or splits?

id get a forge or samco and try that if its the same then can always sell one of them on.

Are you sure your air intake is very free flowing and recently cleaned?

Sounds like a potential blockage in the intake tract

This use to be a problem on the Cav turbo's, they reinforced them with drain pipe to stop the collapsing, not suggesting you do that though.

Carbonio enclosed filter, only fitted it about two months ago.


I'm going to remove the air filter and see if it flows as it should

Im running a autobahn88 tip and its perfectly fine, would recommend them to anyone. It a 4ply thickness, same as a forge or samco item.

They all do the same job.
