I've not notified my insurance regarding cruise, it never crossed my mind.
I may do so. My Insurance is only £135 so doubt it will make much difference.

Yes 4 wires + power & a little tinker with VAGCOM to switch it on.

There is a good howto on clublupo, with piccies.
Need to use a soldering iron & route wires thru bulkhead near the clutch.

Think there's five tdi lupo/arosas with cruise now.
Of course I was the first:)

I wanna see someone try it with a 1.4(petrol 16v) 75 or 100, I bet it works.

Yes, all thanks goes to you, or no one would have it.

There is me, you, jon_273, there was a red lupo with after market leather (the one pictured in the how to topic) but thats just been written off. Cant think of a fifth??

The only thing with the rest of the range is, i dont think they have the switch on the clutch?

there was another guy, who installed cruise, 6-12 mths after me, & before the last round of installs, hasn't been back on the forums since, so that makes 5 i think.
in fact this guy Matt (BigDog) on club lupo back in Oct 06 ( wont allow me to post URL to posting as I'm a newbie:D)

My wifes Polo (1.4 75bhp petrol) has cruise which makes me think its an option, but you're right without the clutch switch it may be a problem.

surely you could dab the break pedal b4 changing gear?

Ah yes, i remember now!

I wasnt a ware of the polo 1.4s having cruise as an option, so that sinteresting, maybe the lupos/arosas are the same then.

You could do that, but the way we have it is OEM standard, without a clutch pedal it could get nasty if you forgot to tap the brake, or someone else drive your car.

Its at club lupo, do a search its in the how to section.

wouldn't like to guarantee it'll work but you'd sure be the first.

back on topic with MPG.
gave it some beans today to & from work, spirited driving, managed a thoroughly unrespectable 46MPG & only gained 4mins on my 20mile commute each way.

Hi there

Back on topic:

I wish I could get 65 mpg - mine was down to 30mpg the other week

You need to take off your heavy boots Luna ;)

As I've only had my Arosa for just under a week it's far too early to tell what sort of fuel consumption or MPG I'm getting. As it stands at the moment I've done just under 180miles and I'm sitting between quarter and full on the fuel gauge. I'm hoping for 300+ miles per tank and expecting around the £25.00 mark to fill it full from empty?

Mine is the 1.0 S Model if that makes any difference?

Nah, I know why mine is low - needs a service, and has been doing an awful lot of short journeys recently :) It goes back up again when I have a tankfull of long trips, although I never see much more than about 40-45mpg out it (250-280 miles per tank).

Im averaging 52mpg, 320 miles on 28 litres of petrol :)

Blimey.

Best ever for our Arosa 1.4MPI Auto is.... 31MPG, and that was a long motorway journey. The norm for us on a mainly urban cycle is 28MPG... and that is (believe it or not) in line with whats quoted in the book.

Ours is serviced annually, has FSH and is generally driven in a fairly laid back fashion.

Cheers,
Stu

I had 46/7 MPG from a full tank in my TDi about 4 or 5 times. Takes some pretty hard driving to get it that low i tell you

Used to average around 55MPG with average driving. Which i didnt think was too excellent for a tiny diesel car but better could be achieved if driven with eco in mind. Im not the most fuel efficient driver ever though.

I was impressed with my little 1.0 recently, 53MPG on a 100 mile trip, sat at 60mph on the motorway all the way, really boring but good fuel returns.

28MPG from a 1.4 automatic  Thats pretty awful. My 1.0 does 38-40MPG with just town use. 42-45 with mixed driving, town and motorway.

Yes, it is shocking. As we do about 4k a year in it, it's not critical. If it had to be used for any real distance, we'd probably have to get rid for this reason alone - despite generally liking the car.

cheers,
Stu

Erm.... I'm getting around 47 to 49 MPG.... although I do drive it a little too fast

I have managed from Woking to Barnsley (190 miles), fill up to fill up, it worked out at 59 MPG (£15 of fuel). It would have been in the 60's but there was an Evo IV and my mate wants one and I had a play so that didn't do too good for the MPG.

Thats pretty bad for a TDi, although yours is remapped?

Often remaps make MPG better, although obviously it depends how you drive it. A mate has a Lupo TDi, remapped to 109bhp and he often returns 60MPG average over each tank with that.

Worst i ever had was 46, usually averaged between 52 and 55mpg. Which is ok.

My current car, the C5, gets 47MPG, thats not taking it too lightly either, its at its best going fast down a motorway afterall. So im pretty impressed with that, imo you have to drive the Arosa TDis really really carefully to get over 60MPG. Otherwise it doesnt do much better than much bigger cars with bigger engines.

Id really like another Seat TDi at the moment, a 1.9tdi 130 Ibiza or, my favourite, Cordoba would be my preferred choice at the moment. We shall see

Yeah mine is chipped. It'll give better MPG due to reaching the speed quicker and being able to ease off the accelerator pedal. However, I just keep on accelerating and end up seeing people I know in a 172 Clio and racing them  They are very shocked by it being able to keep up and even more shocked when I tell them it's a 3 pot derv :D

I suppose, since I've moaned about my Arosa so much in the past, I should also post in the forums when it's behaving itself. So... since getting the car back in mid-July, I've filled it up twice and economy is noticeably better. Two sensors and a fuel pump were replaced, as well as some electronic jiggery-pokery, and whatever's been done it's drinking less.

The first fill-up was after 343 miles of commuting back and forth, and I got 60.5 mpg. Admittedly, it's warmer than when I was measuring consumption previously (October-March) and the Glasgow Fair traffic is a bit lighter than normal, but that's still about 10% better. I don't think I ever got such good figures just from commuting.

More significant still was last week. I did a 50/50 split of motorway driving and commuting, and after 364 miles the low fuel light still wasn't on. Topped it up anyway and it only took about 24 litres, for 68.4 mpg. That's even better than my Glasgow-Oldham-Glasgow motorway marathon last year, and gives me hope that I can now get >70 mpg on a long run.

I'm still not sure I trust the little bugger though. My insurance is up in November, and after that I'll have some no-claims bonus again, and will be able to shop around for something nicer (Auris T180 is top of the list right now). I've given the Arosa until then to convince me to keep it.
