Ran into a problem lowering the g/f's 99 mk2 front right was done no problem, strut of springs on etc. Went on to do the left side, top bolts were so rusted it was solid, nothing would take it off. anyways shreaded a piece so a new shocker is needed now but heres where the problem stands. Went to the breakers and there was no shortage of struts so i ended getting one of a mk3 golf, will this fit?

When i took the strut of the ibiza the top hat came off, slid the shocker out and pulled of the rubber top bit with the bearing for the steering no problem but the strut was slightly diff setup on the mk3 golf, i cant seem to pull the rubber block of the top of it, is it bolted on?

cheers
