I have noticed that in the recent 'wetter' weather we've been having, my front and rear windscreens are even worse for condensation, but I can find no 'wetness' on the inside of the car at all except on the aforementioned windows!! Its getting quite annoying now!! [:@]

I may have an update on my wet window issue. I had a poke around at the exterior window rubber strip last saturday in daylight (the strip that runs horizontally accross the bottom of the window on the outside). and founs that it had not been fitted tight enough against the glass, allowing excess rainwater to run down between it and the glass. It is just a squeeze-on job, so I pulled it off and refitted it by hand .....now after another deluge, the window is bone dry on the outside. Becareful if you try this yourself....ther eis a metail 'spine' inside the runner, and if you bend it it will never go back to its orginal shape, there will always be a bump or dimple in it.

Hopw this helps other people with similat problems.....I'll see if my fix lasts or if the leak starts again over time.

I have the water on the inside of my drivers-side door window. Never causes the car to steam up but if I roll the window down and back up there is water from the hinge side all the way to the far end of the interior door handle.

If I don't wind the window down usually there is a thin strip of condensation right in the hinge side of the window.

I'll have to check the seals to make sure they are fitted properly...

This is exactly what I have. My garage is still waiting for any reply from SEAT.

It is an annoying thing to be happening to a new car, it has done this from day 1.

Did this fix the problem?

Thanks.

Still found no cure, but did discover that the 'water' is on the windows after winding down the front two, they wind back up wet inside. Then the car steams up next time its left. If the moisture is cleared away and the windows not wound down to clear them, it seems to take ages for any amount of moisture to build up again, but if they are wound down, then the next time you leave the car the condensation seems to be really bad. I've stopped winding the windows, or if I do wind them I dry the insides before I leave the car!! Pain in the arse, but it'll soon be summer !!!

I don't have the problem with wetness on inside of windows but the car did suffer from condensation - especially on the windscreen. Two weeks ago I changed the direction setting to aim the air flow at the footwells as well as the windscreen and turned the temperature up to its maximum setting.

After a few long (sweaty) journeys, the condensation hasn't returned. Seems to me that there has been moisture trapped somewhere in the other ducts which needed drying out. A previous poster recommended blasting warm air through the car from each available outlet for a while - seems to have worked for me.

Can't help with the wetness inside the window though

Hi all,

I have noticed that my windscreen mists up excessively. On monday I spent the best part of 20 minutes attempting to demist the screen. I have tried all heater settings and air con but nothing seems to work with any decent efficency. I also have quite major water ingress in both headlight units!!

Additionally my FR 170 has some "waxy" smear marks that keep on appearing down the middle of both front door windows which my hubby seems to believe may be transport wax that has accumulated inside the door seals.

I have now booked my FR TDi into my Seat dealers next Thursday to look into my complaints.

other than these issues all is fine.

Check recirculate not on

Posted this before, but in case it's been missed.

Double-check you don't have the recirculate turned on (little circular arrow on display), press circular arrow to turn off. With it on, my windows steam up within a few minutes.

Pressing the windscreen demist button (top right of aircon controls) on my car, even with all windows steamed up, completely clears them within about 30 seconds even when cold. If you press it, you should hear the fans on max and the "Econ" mode (which just means aircon off), should be deactivated.

If this fails, then it may be that an actuator or solenoid is not moving the flaps to the right place and you're stuck on re-circ. Hopefully dealer will read a fault code if this is the case.

Thanx for the info yell_oh,

Like I said in my previous thread I have checked everything, even the recirculation option but still no effect. The windscreen demist button even with the e-con on still takes for ever and a day to demist the screen. The blower appears to be working OK, but I am of the opinion that the e-con may be suspect! Still, why is it that the windscreen condensation issue is being reported by so many owners? there is obviously an under lying problem causing this common defect. In my previous cars when the a/con was switched on it only took a few minutes to clear even the most condensated of windows.

Still lets see what the dealers can come up with, although I have to say based on the not so enthusiastic response I got from the service advisor at Colliers Seat in Birmingham when I mentioned the problem with water ingress in my headlights, I do not hold out much hope of getting a satisfactory outcome.

I'll have to wait and see. If I get any grief I'll send in my hubby to sort them out:lol:

Just thought I'd mention that AutoExpress this week recommends Comma ProVision Fog Clear Gel (£6.95) for misted glass problems. Got 5/5. The stuff basically make the glass supersmooth so you can still see through it.

Worth a try perhaps?

Thanks Starbank,

I have some RainX (well its my hubby's) I was going to try the anti mist treatment but my hubby said it may work on the side windows but for the windscreen being "Wet" and not condensated it will probably have no effect.

This issue was mentioned to my local Seat dealer on a scheduled visit on Tuesday, what a waste of time, have taken this and a few other issues up with Seat Customer Services now:rolleyes:

Just awaiting a response.

Rainx is good for the windscreen, espec if you do m/way driving, 1st time i used i couldnt believe it drove home peeing rain/dark didn't need my wipers fantastic.

That's all well and good, but it doesn't solve the issue of too much damp air inside the car. These products work b not allowing the water molicules to attatch themselves to the glass, but the water is still inside the car, settling on the carpets/seats/door trims etc.

On the subject of condensation, I noticed it on the inside of the front light covers, straight after the car was delivered! Has anyone else had this problem?

yes - had the condensation inside the headlamp covers at delivery also, disappeared after 2 weeks or so ....presumable the heat of the bulbs dried everything up after a bit. Hasnt been an issue ever since. Complained to the dealers at the time of delivery about it, they said it would clear up itself - that it was a common occurrence. It did - so they were right.

More of an issue was water ingress into the reversing lamp (any wonder considering where its located) that has been replaced twice under warranty already. I note that the Altea XL (the 'new' new Toledo in my opinion) no longer has reversing lamps or fog lamps under the bumper , but back in the main clusters where they belong. Does that tell a story or what ??

My condensation on the windcreen was so bad last week, it froze! So not only did I have to scrape the outside of the screen, but I also had to scrape the inside! I wasn't happy.

Another thing for Seat to check out on it's visit this weekend.

People...i Have The Same Problem.... Windows Condense, I Have An In-car Swimming Pool... And When I Drop The Driver Side Window It Rolls Back Up With A Waterfall.... Does Anyone Have A Cure For Any Of The Problems....
