I get condensation on the inside of my screen. More so on the mk3 than mk2. Seems like sumthing we are going to have to deal with if SEAT have said there is nothing wrong with yours

So this morning was a good opportunity to see how my screen was given that the exterior was frozen solid (was a struggle moving the Seat logo to open the boot!). But basically, I started the engine, pushed front windscreen max and turned the fan up all the way and left it while I scraped away at the ice. About 3 minutes later I had finished and 3/4 of the screen was clear.

I don't think I see this as a major issue or disappointment.

I wonder if there are any commonalities between those who are experiencing these issues? All 5dr models perhaps? Or all a certain trim?

Can this be put down to the current weather conditions. I can't comment on the Leaon, still wating for mine, but my Focus ST has certainly been worse these last few months for condensation compared to the last few years.

-5 this morning for me and I did not even have to put the windscreen max on for it to be clear by the time I had scraped the front and side.

Mine was awful when I got it in October (I started the original thread) but since never turning off auto and applying anti fog it's fine.

Is your petrol or diesel?

In the above conditions mine would not clear for around 20mins and would be frozen on the inside too

This issue sounds annoying. I hope I don't experience 20 mins to demist the windscreen in the morning, I struggle to get up early enough as it is.

I find my current Mk5 Ibiza is really bad for mist if I turn on the front screen demister and use de icer because all the vapour from the de icer gets pulled through the fan and dumped on the windscreen. Rarely experience mist issues if I use a scraper or use the de icer with the engine off and turn the engine on after a minute or so.

Been following this thread for a while. Can I suggest something? When you defrost your windscreen on a frosty morning, why not try using a med/large jug of cool (but NOT warm) tap water to clear the screen? This effectively reduces the temperature difference between the outside face of the screen to that of the inside face of the screen and the internal temperature of the car. I use this method to prevent misting in my old Golf and it works fine. Only a suggestion mind...:)

This is what I used to do on previous cars, but the point is, should we really have to resort to bodges on a BRAND NEW CAR?

I've had cars with zero aircon no where near this bad.... I once had a mini that required you to wear a hot water bottle under our coat because the heater was shite, even that defrosted in a few minutes....

Just thought I'd add to this now I've had some experience.

I left home ay 05:30 this morning while it was-3 outside. Car frozen solid.

I got in the car at 05:31, ignored max windscreen mode, put air con on recirc on Hi, directed air to windscreen, turned up the fan to full. At 05:34 I drove away with a perfectly clear windscreen. Mine's a 184 diesel.

I should probably also add that in all my previous cars over the past few years I've driven with air con on at all times due to the windscreen misting up while driving. So far I have never had to do this in my Leon.

I put good use to the free winters gift pack my dealer gave me when collecting the car this morning. I too awoke to a frozen car and I did exactly the same ritual as I have done with my Audi A3 for past 5 years on my new Leon and drove off with clear windows and I too have a 184 Diesel. This is what I tend to do:
Start the engine, turn temp up to 25, switch on front screen demister (which automatically cranks up fans to full speed), switch on rear demister, go out and scrape ice off front windscreen and both passenger and driver window. It takes about 3-5 mins to scrape the ice off and by the time I finish I can drive off straight away. However the new Leon did exceed in one area over my A3, the heated seats certainly felt nice this morning! :D

So in summary I don't thing the Leon is any worse than my old A3 in these icy conditions and I have yet to experience heavy condensation too. Also another plus is that I find that this new Diesel engine seems to warm up quicker than my old diesel in the A3. After driving about 5 mins or so I can start to feel slightly warm air coming in, the old car took about 8-9 mins of driving before I felt any warmth.

It actually goes up one more.

Not sure what that means!
Hi as in high temp, or high speed?
My car has the basic manual controls, temp is blue to red.... :-(
5 speed fan and ac on or off!

Is everyone who's having problems not got climate control I wonder?

I've noticed (that may be due to the design of the roof and doors), in wet weather, some of the rainwater which has accumulated on the roof or at the top of the doors, drips into the car and onto the edges of the seats as soon as you open the front or back doors, and so I wondered if this could cause a build up of damp and condensation inside the car (although I've never had any problem with excessive misting or with demisting of the windscreen on my petrol Leon FR Mk3 with climate control, which I keep switched on at all times). I never had any problem with water dripping into the car from the roof or tops of the doors in my previous cars (Vauxhall Vectras and Insignias), but I find that the tailgate is much better on the Leon for stopping water getting into the boot when I open it compared with the tailgates on my Vectras and Insignias which always seemed to let in water when opened.

Certainly not unique to to the Mk3, my Mk2 can be pretty bad and our 2010 Ibiza is horrendeous, seems to steam up in no time and take an age to clear, best bet is aircon on high and recirculate as has been said, but can still take 10 mins.

Dropping the windows sometimes helps a little as well to level the outside and inside temps.
