I've got a mk1 leon cupra r and I'm struggling with the same problem. Only have to leave my car for a few hrs and its all misted up inside. The previous owner told me he sealed all the doors properly. All the carpets front and back are all bone dry. Don't understand how it can mist up so quick.

It's set to the warmest setting. I think mine goes to 29.0 then Hi.

Obviously I wouldn't try to clear a frozen window by blowing cold air at it?

Same condensation problem

Leon 1.6 TDi 2013
Im a new member and i thought i would update mine as having the same issue here.

Previously I've owed an Altea (was brilliant) a MII toledo (which was brilliant abart from very rubish door seals that let water pur in to such an extent my footwells used to look like the floods - no offence ment).

my latest Leon has been brilliant exept for three things poor fuel consumption (which could be new engine breaking in etc), dpf doing a sping clean nearly always (can we not have a reading on the dash to say its nearly all sooted up take it for a drive) so i dont have to get annoyed just as im pulling up late to work and the fan sound like its taking off), and condensation of windows.

The condensation is more like droplets and each time im going into the car since autumn im having to use my misting pad which becomes soaked, i can literally squeeze it out.

Ive been driving with air con full time, checked wor any leaks water ingress the usual boots carpet but found no obvious source. It is no one window specific as all steam up the same, it usually takes lessa than an hour to build up considerable amounts of water. but there are days when no condesation builds up even if it rains like today... weierd i know.

I took it back to Seat who left if for 2 nights and said its not abnormal as its cold and they all condense up. To be fair to them it just so happed as is the rule of thumb that is was not so bad those days. They sad it was not a known fault.

So back to the drawing boad it seems worse in the evenings, my car seems the only one in the car park that is condensed up after work i notice the same in supermaket car parks etc..

Ive had loads of cars but never a problem with condensation ecept for the Toledo but the souce was obvious. Anyway hoping someone finds a fix.

my mk2 is bad for this as well ... maybe seat are just sh1t at making cars that don't dramatically mist up when you get in them? lost count of times i get in car to come home, high majority of my colleagues drive away after 1-2 mins if that ... often i'm still sitting like a chump 5+ mins later unless i use the chamois covered sponge i have ... which then leaves my screen all nice and streaked :(

I've seen many posts on condensation and a friend who owns a Yeti seems to be suffering also. I do wonder whether there is an airflow restriction problem through the car, where either the air outlet vents in the rear panel are blocked with carpet/sound proofing; or maybe from items in the boot blocking the vents. Worth checking possibly.

Currently trying to access a rear door actuator on Altea. I have removed speakers and black inner (fabric lining) but unsure how to remove remaining brown plastic rigid lining still on door. Any assistance would be appreciated.

my daughter's Golf Mk5 mists up badly in cold weather, but all the doors shut and seal OK, carpet are dry - it's just the windows.
And my wife's saab 9-5 also suffers badly in cold weather, but that's old and I think the seals/doors are faulty.
but the golf is worse than my Mk3 leon.

I have owned both a mk 2 Leon and a mk 3 Leon.
I have found with both cars if you leave the air conditioning on permanently you don't have condensation issues.

I think this is the way modern cars are designed.
If you turn off the air con condensation builds up as it does not get expelled from the car.

So as you breathe you increase the moisture in the car with condenses on the windows when the car cools.

Hope this helps

This thread appears to have two different aspects. Moaning about how long the demister takes to clear an iced up windscreen externally and condensation I'm guessing inside the car on the windscreen.

Which is causing more concern??

in my job i drive a merc van and that is also terrible for misting up on windscreen but had no trouble with leon seems to be a problem with all german cars

I think you are right my Golf Mk6 mist up but clears if I have the aircon on and if its raining I have to have aircon on all the time And as usual with most German cars it clears the Passenger side of the windscreen first so assume my New Leon will be the same

My last few Cupra's have all had climate control, and as I have it on all the time, never had misting up probs in any of them. In winter tend to set it at 22, til it warms up then down to 19/20, in the summer start at 18 and if really hot down to 16 or even low for a while.:D:D:D

My Leon 3 FR is just over two weeks old & nearly 1200 miles. It misted terribly when new but almost none now. I intitially dealt with it using aircon but now no need. We also have a Honda S2k. In winter that sits on the drive for a period of a week or more. That mists up badly but with a couple of days of use it disappears.
