Coolant level unclear marking

I have the dreaded three beeps in the morning and went to check the coolant level. There are two lines on the exp. bottle about 2cm apart with stars between the lines and it says min on the bottom line. But there is no max marking even though the handbook shows it.

Can someone confirm the top line is the max level ? - it is still below the joint in the bottle. Thanks.

your coolant level could be ok - the sensors are a very common problem - I've had my sensor replaced twice due to the "3-beep syndrome" - my coolant level was fine on both occasions.

Just top it up a bit, my max line has gone as well and the min line ain't the best, seems to have peeled off.
My mate had the 3 beeps and topped up a little (over fill will be drained through the drain pipe) no more beeps in the morning

Check coolant level and top-up if necessary. When the engine is at normal operating temperature, the coolant level must be on the max. mark, when the engine is cold, between the min. and max. marks

Seat or VW sell G12, yes yours is low.

With the 3 beeps and red light thing i don't know if any one on this thread has mentiond it i only speed read it so i might of missed it. All you need to do to remedy this is scrape the 2 prongs in the tank with a screwdriver to clean the corrosion off them. its quite common and i did this to mine and its never beeped at me since even on the coldest of mornings. only a 2 minute job!!!

oh and always use the G12 coolant from vw its cheaper than most and the proper stuff. With regards to the level it would have to be seriously low to make the beeper go off. I always make sure the level is in between the 2 lines on the tank when the engine is cold and it seems ok.

i had this and the problem was the temperature sensor gauge. its a common fault, and there is now an uprated version of the sensor, which is green (instead of black), you can pick this up from ebay for about 10 quid, easy to change and there are guides on here somewhere.
