Cordoba 2004 What Wheels?

Hi, I have a 2004 Cordoba for my sins with the 130TDI lump and it desperately needs better wheels.

I know they are 5x100 stud pattern. With 57.1 centre sprocket size. Which is all good and well.

The question is what size of wheel and tyre can I get away with without having to do any arch work?

I'm eyeing up the wives TT alloys (mainly as she wants 18" for her car). They are 225 width, 45 profile and 17".

The profile of tyre could come down a bit if needed but does anybody know if I can get that width of tyre on my Cordoba? If so how massive a spacer will I need? (I don't mind the wheels sticking out a bit from the car!)

I know that adding spacers will require my suspension geometry re-doing propperly, but that's overdue anyway's, so now is the time..

Any comments from others who have stuck oversize width tyres and wheels on there Mk4 ibixa or Cordoba would be appreciated.

Radius

Fitting is more important than keeping the radius the same... As VAG set the speedos deliberately low (33 is actually 30, 74 is 70 etc) a larger radius would go towards correcting this... Also I use the Sat nav for speed confirmation..

Can I get them on? Will they fit? Will I need spacers and any idea how much spacers will be needed?
