There are other differences mate.....
inlet ports are bigger on the KR , exhaust are smaller .......
I reckon the cams are different , too .....

I have read somewhere (don't remember where) that ABF flies with an early KR inlet manifold that is ( apparently from a KR w/o a cat) 50mm...... as to your 45mm item.
i 4t the abf being basically a mk3 golf engine had 50mm inlets it was the corrado/passat engine that had the small inlets 42mm, that why they only mad 136bhp not 150 something to do with emissions i think.
