cordoba sx coupe '97 broken electric window!

is this a common problem? my drivers side window will move about 1/2 inch then jam on its way down, it also struggles to get back up! sounds like its jamming on something! any ideas?!?

Sounds like it has come off its runners, wouldn't keep operating it as this may bend the mechanism.

Best to get the door card off and have a look, you should be able to see where it has come off and feet it back.

With the door card off and a little light on the subject, try operating the window. You will probably find that it will be easy to identify the problem. I had this problem with my Rover.

Sometimes the wiring can work loose and get in the way of the runners, the window will still operate but will stick.

check the cables running in and out of the motor/winder,if one part on this goes ,then bin the lot.
not expensive or difficult to replace(if you know your way around a scrappies

New or a n other mechanism, you wont be able to repair the existing one (been there and done it)
