Having done a bit of research on here was planning to change my spark plugs and go for Denso iridium IK22's.

However having looked at the denso website here:

http://www.globaldenso.com/cgi-bin/...earch&filename=maker80car.csv&name=&cc=&FF=50

It would appear that the IK22's (or even IK20's for that matter) are the wrong plug

For the Leon 20VT they do not list any Iridium plug, however for the Ibiza 20VT they do list one even though the standard and "tough" versions are the same for the Ibiza and the Leon. OK so if I assume the Ibiza and Leon are the same then the part they list for the beezer is SVK20R-Z8, NOT IK20.

So if I want colder plugs then I presumably would want SVK22R-Z8 if such a thing exists?

Hi Bill,

Yeah I know lots of people have used IK22's successfully but was wondering what the difference between the standard IK20 and SVK20R is? Are they physically different in some way or have different electrical properties/gap etc??

I did read one thread where someones IK22's has disintegrated causing engine damage and it got me worried :headhurt:

IK22's have run in my 500bhp motor no problem... the only thing i've come across with them is their life is less than other plugs and did'nt last as long.

If someones IK22's let go its due to other issues, like detonation, poor tuning, too high a boost too much ign advance etc etc etc not the plug itself.

nothing indestructable
