The Ibiza Cupra is that money, on a dated platform with less power....

Ouch, more salt in the wound for Cupra owners. While I do agree some way with the Cupra's short comings, the handling is excellent if you get one on a track, and with a re-map, can be more powerful.

I do really like the VXR tho, but have some trouble getting my head round the fact it's a 1.6 - I would much rather have a Clio 197 if they wasn't so dam expensive :funk:

the corsa is faster 0-60 (0.1 sec) and better for tuning as far as i know (because of the turbo, clio is normally aspirated) and the clio sports a notorious for being over estimated unlike seats who under estimate, i think :p. tbh 1.4,1.6,1.8 dont mean all that much any more, the corsa could be tuned to 375 with the right money spent on it, that must be more than enough lol, no need for a 1.8 [B)]

think the clio has better handling apparently although i dont see how it could be much better.

14.6 in a standard car would be stupidly quick, no? if i got that id be applying to drive alongside lewis hamilton

taking it again on sunday with nearly 2k miles so i think i will have another go on the strip if it aint too busy, oh i go to crail to answer the other question :) only been once though

These new cars must weigh a shed load then. 8 years ago I had a Saxo vts and they ran 15.6 with a poxy 120bhp, surely these cars are capable of better times?!

15.6 was a bad time though. my reaction speed was slow, the tcs kicked in and the car had 200 miles on the clock

And yes they will weigh more than a saxo lol, my car has 6 airbags and a 5 star safety rating, i believe the saxo had 1 airbag if you're lucky and got 1 or 2 stars in the Euro NCAP, so it couldnt have had very many safety features

i nearly got the corsa vxr but to be honest i dont like how it feels like a mpv inside with how the windscreen rakes plus i prefer the shape of the corsa c and mine wiped the floor with a vxr recently and all i can say is when we pulled over he couldnt believed he lost and spent
17k on a high performance car that lost didnt tell him mine was running 295bhp but even so it was nice to upset one

think you'd have smoked most cars with that kinda of power , hence the name scooby slayer ;)

im sure if the corsa was modded to that kinda power, which it can be, it would have been more interesting :)

I think the mileage had most affect on the time. Reaction time has nothing to do with it. The early vts had 2 airbags and something silly like a 2 star rating lol. I believe the later car had airbags in the seats as well?

if 2 exact same cars raced, one had a reaction time of 0.1 seconds and the other hada reaction time of 1.1 seconds, surely the first one would win by 1 second, which show there is a difference in reaction times:shrug:

i thought reaction time were just if you wanted to get away as quick as possible but as t-spark said it isnt addedto your time when the light goes green your time doesnt start only when you pass a sensor on the start line you time is started.

so when the light goes green you can sit there untill you are ready ;)

Seems like a fair price now a days for the size of car, and class/trim level. The Ibiza Cupra is that money, on a dated platform with less power....

you can get a leon fr for another grand so I wouldnt say its a fair price. vxr astras are 17/18 grand.
