Hi all i am a new member.

Bought my seat ibiza mk4 FR tdi 130 a couple of months ago. All has been well and good and have been really happy with it. But today i noticed when i went over a speed bump i heard a creaking coming from somewhere? Any one got any ideas problems?? Oh its a 56 plate.

Also i think the brakes aren't that good, i was planning on having it mapped. Iv read that TT brakes fit on? How much roughly are those?

Thanks Tom

I bought a 2003 Ibiza 1.4 back a few weeks ago, second day after getting it i hit a lovely pothole and this creaking noise appeared coming from the front left. Turned out to be i needed a new front lower bush, as well as an engine mount in the end to the sum of £150.

So by my experience id say that you might need some bushes replacing.

Hi Ruck,

The creaking is most likely the bushes (wheres the sound come from front or rear) - rear I'd definately say its the bushes as mine does the exact same thing.

As for Audi TT brakes, speak to Vince at the TTShop (01234 853 225) - make an equiry to second hand 312mm front brakes (the callipers carriers and pipes) they sell them for around 100 quid plus another 15 for delivery.

Get yourself to GSF buy a send of 312 discs (around 90 quid the pair) pads if you need them (sometimes the callipers come with pads in them Oo) and you almost there.

ARB bushes, either the bushes are worn or the clamp is damaged. easy to replace.

Will most likely be worse when the bushes are wet.

Some greese on it will probably fix it for a bit

Or it could be the front TCA rear bushes - known as console/voided bushes... VERY common fault.

Creaking at lower speeds over bumps, or when you come on/off throttle, worse when wet?

If you look under the car behind the front wheel, they are the large round console that hinges the wishbone. You can stick some grease inside it to shut it up, but it will still need replacing or you will start to get some funky handling/tyre wear.

It definately does it over bumps and thats it really. Only just noticed so dont know about worse when wet.

.

This sounds exactly what mine's doing now...

is it expensive?

It recently passed a MOT with no advisories so I take it it's not dangerous - though it's been creaking for a while now.

That was exactly it. n./s front inner wishbone bush.

Fixed today by my trusty little family garage near work for £105. Apparently it's a ******* of a job to get the bush into place.

did they use the improved bushes or cupra bush?

other wise youll be back the shortly for them redoing cupra are you best option

To be honest I have no idea so probably normal ones. I didn't know there was a difference. To be honest I'm not a high mileage user - my car gets serviced on years rather than mileage. It's on 52k miles now and that's the first bush I've had to replace.

The bush was only £8.19 plus vat. £80 labour.

Thats what I've got on my Seat Ibiza 1.9 2006 but been told its because of a dry joint on my nearside front suspension. Solution would be to grease them. Not got it yet as it was an advisory on my MOT but the garage seemed to suggest its a common problem.

So I might not to have to go to the expense of replacing the bushes. Worth greasing all the joints first then.

I'm not an expect but the guy seemed confident that it would help fix it. Will see what happens when I get it looked at.

creaking was the front wishbone bushes on mine and were replaced with cupra ones,

if you do that get your tracking done asap after or you risk ruining the inside of your tyres like i did......
