Hi All,

I've got a LCR 05 plate with 27k

Took it out on Saturday and had to carry passengers which i don't normally do and all i could hear was a loud creaking noise from the rear passenger side. I got everyone to get out and drove it again and the noise stopped but started again when they got back in.

Any ideas? :(

Thanks

yeah, mine creaks when it's cold
i've been told it isn't anything serious

it's on 85k now and it's got new wishbones, springs and shocks so it could be the ARB

Oh ok, thanks guys
I've got it booked in for next monday so i'll let u know what they say

ive had the same problem, had 4 people in the car sat night which i never normally do and it was creeking a little, mines a 55plate 37k, they said it was just the cold and because i hardly use it.

Hi Zara

Do you know how to lubricate the rear suspension?? or in fact what you grease? Mine creaks like hell too and I had the little lady sitting in the back and she is convinced the creak is coming from outside from the suspension.

Any help would probably save my sanity!!

Hi Dave

Do you know what to do with it though?? had a quick look today and it seems you can get to the springs from underneath the car, i.e not the wheel arch. but do you just lube the top of the springs?? I was thinking a ptfe spray would be easier?

It would be great to hear from anyone who has done this and had results.

Hia,

Sorry, i'm not sure what to lubricate as I got my local seat garage to do it, but whatever they did didn't work as its still doing it more than before :(

I had the drop links and bushes replaced and the sound has gone.

Working in the Arch:
Squirted it all at the top of the arch, where the top mount fixes to the turret, getting the topmount bearing etc.
I squirted the damper piston (shiny metal bit) where it goes into the damper body
Finally, into the area where the coilover height adjuster plate is, so I can raise / lower the front without having to fight with seized parts.

The white blobs in the photo is white grease, you can see where I missed and got it on the underseal / paintwork. I wiped all the excess off before refitting the wheels etc :)

Aye, I thought about that when I was doing it.

The struts have dust covers over them (blue cylinders in the pic) which will help, but the dampers have seals in them to stop dirt ingress. I clean them regularly now as well which includes a re-lube (once a month) so that will help keep the dirt and muck away. It's not a daily driver so it shouldn't get too bad (he says!)

my lc does this too, even when i get out of the car with handbrake on. gonna get my old man to have a look. will try and lubricate what i can see, probably. friggin annoying!

right peeps, i had my dad look at it (he is a mechanic) and told him what the problem is and he believes its the brakes that make the squeeky noise and that there's nothing we can do about it

on another note, i got my rear washer working, it was leaking cos the pipe had come off inner boot. the rear hatch trim was a right biatch to do.[:@]
