Hello,
I have just bought a Seat Leon 1.6 SX and I am thinking about retro-fitting cruise control, they do kits on ebay for about £90...
It says on the listing that you need a VAG-COM cable to enable cruise control on the ecu.

I bought one of the cables and it came with the VCDS lite software. But it is extrememly limited without paying $99 to register it... does anyone know if I can enable cruise control without forking out more money to register the software? I want to know before I buy the cruise control kit, really?

Thanks a lot!

By full registered version, I mean the full registered VCDS-Lite version by paying the $99USD registration fee. You cannot save coding changes in the shareware version of VCDS-Lite - unless the designers changed something and failed to tell us about it.

Ask nicely in the help requests to see if anyone is near enough to help. If you only need it once a bit of fuel may be cheaper than the $99. Maybe not for long with the way petrol prices are going.

I'd be happy to help if you're nearby. I'm on the Wirral.

well, i went out last night and had a fiddle, i managed to log on and enter the code for activating cruise control and it let me do it?

[Select]
[01 - Engine]
[Login - 11]
Enter 11463 to activate cruise control
[Do It!]

now my engine code ends in "G" which i heard means it's activated...
I am in bournemouth, dorset. so not really that close to wirral, but thanks though! :)

sorry about being a total newbie, i am used to cars that are 40 years old, so plugging a computer in is totally new to me!

i managed to do a couple of other little things too, like making all the doors unlock with one click of the blipper and activating my seatbelt warning light (not that it actually works anyway?!)

cheers guys :)
