Has anyone on here fitted cruise without removing the whole dash?

I got a kit off CUM-Cartech on ebay just to save time, and the loom and instructions seem pretty good. I got it all fitted, bar one wire (it plugs direct into the Body module, one wire teed into brake light switch is all it takes)

However there's one final wire that goes to a "Power Distribution Unit" which looks like its right at the very top of the bulkhead on the drivers side - Pin 10, T11a. I can just about see the unit, but there's absolutely no chance of getting it connected without removing the dash entirely.

The wire goes to pin 29/26 of the stalks - Does anyone know what it does? My copy of ELSA has stopped working with a windows 10 update so I can't get hold of any diagrams. Cruise doesn't seem to work without it connected.

Cheers!

Right, I got ELSA working and it looks as though this wire goes through to the ECU, pins 38 and 76.

I suppose I could splice into this in the engine bay - it's hugely preferable to removing the whole dash, but I'd really rather avoid making any joins/modifications to the loom outside of the cabin.

Has anyone picked this up inside the car? How is the loom routed?

Oh, now I'm on 15 posts I can put the wiring diagram up. It might come in handy for someone searching in the future:

Got big or small hands?

You can remove the plug without removing the dash but you need nimble fingers. You'll have to drop the fusebox, comfort control module and relay trays to access it. Underneath the row of plugs there is a slide lock. You have to slide it to the right and the plug can be removed and pressing the tab in the top.

Cheers badger. I had the comfort module and fuse box off off trying to get at it on Sunday, but laid in the drizzle and wind at the side of the road it felt like an impossible task to get any further

How do the relay trays come out?

Wicked, thanks man.
I've got medium sized hands but a fairly high pain threshold for fisting dashboards so I reckon it's a goer.
I'll give it a crack in the carpark outside work on Friday.

Sorted, thanks again Badger. Thought I broke the back of it by getting the connector unplugged and in my hand within about 15 minutes, but the wires were so tight that I could barely get at the back of it to insert the last pin and it took the best part of an hour all in.
Turns out it was already enabled on my ECU so it worked out of the door. The +- buttons aren't very responsive though, but that's the implementation not the installation.
You could almost drive normally in my pals A4 just on the cruise buttons, especially with the MFD showing the "set" speed, but it's very sluggish to adjust on this, a bit disappointed but I'm sure I'll get used to it. I wonder if there's anything I can alter on the ECU maps or in VCDS?

Definitely feels quite strange watching the boost gauge go from full vacuum to 10PSI boost as you accelerate out of valleys.

I cheated and pushed a wire through from the engine bay side of that connector using an unused connector hole. I did consider removing the connector from the inside but my hands are way too big for that! Others have run the wire across under the dash and through bulkhead at the passenger side and hence straight into ECU.

Anyway.. enjoy your cruise control.. used it every day for 9 years now.
