Anybody had their CC stop working randomly?

Clicked mine to set it his morning and nothing at all, Turned engine on and off, Set the CC to on and off etc.

Its dead.

Not had time to scan it yet but got no lights

on off rocker switch on the stalk
set and resume buttons on the stalk
brake pedal switch
clutch pedal switch

That's all I can think of.

Need to scan it later see if anything comes up, everything feels fine nothing loose as such.

hate electronics

Think there is also a switch on gear lever (or in gearbox) is your gear display thingy still working?

need to check them somehow then, guessing checking the brake lights would be a start for the brake switch.

Car drives fine

I'd say its probably the stalk itself that has failed. They aren't the most reliable and have been known to malfunction in the Mk2 along with the Golf and Octavia. The first one I bought didn't work after it was fitted and activated in VCDS the buttons just didn't do anything, so on my second now.

They can't claim that any modifications he's made have affected the stalk. Only argument they can make is that it's out of warranty.

Your gearbox lost count of what gear it was in. I think there are sensors/switches inside the box to tell it what gear it's in and put the display up on the dash. If it doesn't know what gear it's in it could be in neutral so CC is deactivated.

Haha I'm not surprised it did tbh

Single Mass Flywheel + Metal gearbox bushes + metal shifter bushes and Quick shifters..

Hardcore gearbox lol

Could be that there's a bit too much vibration in the gearbox upsetting the sensors/switches for the gear indicator display.

Had this on Passat. Gear indicator suddenly disappeared from MFD, was like it for a 2 hour journey (cruise wouldn't work either) was about to ring dealers when I stopped for fuel, when I restarted it all worked fine. That was three months ago and no repeat since.

I always thought the gear indicator was done through the lever position?
There's definitely no switches on the gearbox for it.
When I had my R I remember my cruise didn't work on a journey, I pulled in to a layby and restarted the car and all was well.
Never happened again either.
Probably a software glitch
