Cupra 280 (EA888) Engine rattle at idle

Hi all,

I've got a 2014 Leon Cupra 280 (done 29,000 miles) and have noticed this rattling noise coming from the engine at idle. It sounds "plasticky" and is drowned out by the engine sound as you increase revs. It can only really be heard with the bonnet open, when closed you can't really hear it.

Anyone experienced anything similar? Any thoughts? Is it normal? Sure doesn't sound like it!

Does it idle correctly, do you notice the idle change every so often?

Seems to idle okay. On cold start, it idles just above 1000rpm. then after a minute or so, drops just below 1000rpm. It's only then that the noise can be heard.

So I checked the engine oil today (I do it fairly regularly) and it was on the low side (still in the marking though). so I topped it up a bit.The coolant looked a bit low too, so topped that up also.

Have annual service this weekend, will ask them to investigate.
