So I purchased a Cupra 290 2019 a couple days ago and I’ve realised that there is condensation in the headlights, in the uk right now the weather is terrible, constantly raining and cold.
Is this normal, and how do I fix it?
A small amount of condensation isn’t unusual as LED headlamps generate very little - if any - heat to clear the condensation. However, if the inside of the headlamps are streaming with water droplets that are pooling in the bottom of the headlights then that’s not normal.
It's very common to the point of being expected. The design of the lights is not great, it doesn't rain much in Spain. Most of the time it's just annoying and won't do any harm but I think it's mostly down to how the car is used. If your car has been sitting for a while it's probably worse than usual.
It is a recognized fault if it's bad enough. I had water in both of my headlights and Seat replaced one but not the other. There is nothing you can do about it. Even if you replace the lights the new units are the same design. They never fixed them.
