Its very frustrating because they initially released the 265bhp Cupra then the 280 then 290..

I don't think I have ever seen SEAT do something as silly as this. I bet the other car companys are laughing

No problem mate, but with all due respect, dealerships know nothing about anything. You'd get more substantial information from a tree.

I've just spoken to the tree in the garden, he wasn't giving much away, but then he hasn't in the past either. :D

I drove past a dealer (Hampton Court) last Friday and so thought I would ask if they had any more info than the dealer I am buying from (Eastbourne) and they hadn't even heard of the 290!! I explained that it had been in all the motoring press and that she should probably keep abreast of what is going on of what they are trying to sell.

Wierdly I guess Seat don't want their dealers to know about it as they want them to sell through existing stock but then no idea why they sent out press releases!

They are supposed to be a new cupra R out with 4 wheel drive and 300 plus bhp

That's where I buy all my Seat's from, sadly they've just gone into administration...:banned:

I think the new TSI engine has lots of potential to tune it. I guess it's if you want more power and rubbish fuel economy or stick with the 280 bhp

Exactly.

Some dealerships have 1-2 individuals working in them that actually attend events in Spain regular and UK events.

Other dealerships have nobody, sales guy is usually one of the last to know.

SEAT are looking at releasing an upgrade for headunit so MY14-15 cars can also get full link, something I desperately want.

Me and you both. The only thing that annoys me about my car is the resolution of the head unit and more recently the fact that newer cars have Android Auto (Full Link).

Obviously, there isn't much that can be done about the resolution and it's not as if I'm going to get rid of it as a result, but if there was an upgrade available to enable Full Link I'd be more than happy to pay for it.

When did MY14 start? I have a feeling mine might be a MY13.

Regardless of the power or the changes that may or may not be knowing you have the most up to date offering is always nice.

I'm waiting on my cupra which is set as a build date of week 40. I'm perfectly happy accepting it as a 280 but naturally I'd prefer the latest edition of a 290. So time will tell. Although I'm phoning tomorrow to add the higher resolution screen which may change things

On the 4th of September I tweeted them a week after ordering the car and asked how I could find out. Someone from Seat UK then contacted me and was kind of helpful explaining that because of the standard wheels I would not get the car until March and that a build week would not be given until a week before the car goes into production. I then cancelled that order and reordered in a different colour with the black line to reduce the lead times. I then got another call from Seat UK to say they could see my new order and that it would be built in week 44 and that it would have been week 40 but the reversing camera has added 4 weeks. I then said I would remove the camera in that case then and retrofit it to which he then told me that it would make no difference and that the car would still be built week 44 so I kept it. Week 44 is W/C October 26th and I was told my car would be delivered mid to late December. I don't see how it takes two months so fingers crossed it will be early as other people say to allow about 3 weeks for it to leave Spain and get to dealer and I can't imagine it takes 5 weeks to build.

So to answer your question they just need your order details from the dealer.

Right, the dealer has informed me that mine is build week 42. So definitely a 280 rather than 290 model (Explains how I got the discount i did) .

Is the assumption that it takes a week to build then 3-4 weeks to ship and prep??
