Hi guys was just wondering if I got full cupra air intake along with a remap, what bhp would my fr tdi be sitting at!
Thanks :)

I'm sure this has been covered a million times before, but....

It depends what map you are running (REVO etc) but it would be roughly 170bhp 300lb/ft .

I'm not after a remap to boost the car to 170bhp, but is it possible to remap the car to work along with the cupra intake, which would maybe give me 10-20 more bhp?

Why would you not want the extra power in the remap? Are you looking for a more economical mapping option?

Yes it is possible, infact you should get the ECU mapped whenever you add performance upgrades changing power outputs. Most places with cater for your needs to be honest as they make a killing from remaps.

the Cupra intake won't give you any extra hp...it just makes the turbo spool up quicker for better resonse really...along with a slightly more noticeable whistle ;) most stage 1 maps will sit you between 170-174hp with anything around the 270-280lbs/ft torque

only difference between mapper's is the aggressiveness/smoothness of the map itself

At the minute I'm more concerned with turbo lag and assumed that full cup intake would solve this problem. Also I don't really want to be replacing flywheels etc in the long run so thought it might have been a safer bet!

Haha dude it's very very tempting, could just imagine the torgue! :D :D

the lag is kinda sorted in the remap...the turbo will spool up from 1500-1750rpm and kick in fully round 2500rpm and be present throughout the rev range.

The Cupra intake will help quite a bit with getting air into the engine, its clearly evident when you put the standard FR intake and the Cupra one side by side, this however would be complimented with an uprated panel filter sitting inside the airbox, When I fitted my cupra intake I noticed that there was a rather large hole underneath the bit that sits in the front grille area, I actually used a piece of cereal box and some duct tape and sealed it off so that all of the air going into the intake was forced into the airbox instead of a 60/40 split.

On my tdi fr I noticed no difference with the pd160 intake and panel filter really. The bigger intake doesn't really make any difference as the turbo can still pull through plenty of air through the normal intake. My mate had a big turbo tdi Ibiza still on normal intake pipe, for instance.

Get it mapped fella its a whole different car when you do and it has improved my mpg on every trip i make. Where abouts in N.Ire are you? I got my car remapped from OBD Autotune up in Ballymeana, very nice price and done a super job
