Cupra Cup ?

Well I am glad you have made some steps forward in deciding what to do next year - Britcar should be good fun, lots of track time. I had heard that you were buying an ex-cupra championship Leon and naturally assumed it would be for this new VAG series - if allowed, I think they will be he cars to beat as they have excellent chassis and very tunable engines, but the regs need sorting out big style IMO to level the competition.

Is your family scirocco coming out of retirement for the new VAG series? nice car that.

Yes, its good track time, and hasn't actually cost anything because we picked the car up for £10.5k and co-incidentally Robs car sold for £5.5k and mine is up for £5k = £10.5k so the net investment is the same as this year.

Running costs are going to be quite a bit more, but hopefully a 4 year old car is much more likely to attract sponsorship. This has always been the dilemma in the past....you need a newish car to attract the sponsorship, but to to buy a newish car you need the sponsorship....chicken and egg thing.

I hadn't actually relaised what a serious bit of kit the Cupra race cars were until I went to look at this one last Friday. So I have to confess the regulations don't cater for them, which is something I will address this week when I speak to the organisers. I am sure the grip can be reduced to redress the advantage they have.

My dad has owned the Scirocco since 2004 now, and is thinking about bringing it out for a few of the V.A.G. Trophy races so hopefully will be seen again.

I also started to build a 16v Scirocco for Britcar which is a bare shell sitting at Custom Cages as we speak which I have had to abandon now due to the Leon, so I am not sure what to do with this now. I should really sell it to raise budget for the Leon, but I have most of the parts collected to finish the build, so its probably worth more as a completed car....dunno, a lot depends on time.

Bill - or tune if for torque like everyone else will do - there needs to be caps on both power and torque

like we have discussed before, if would be great if atmo cars could run on sicks and turbo motors on road tyes........wouldnt mind mixing it with you turbo boys then :funk:

hmmm vag racing.. but power to weight..
that would be interesting for badgerwagen.. turn it down or ballast it by towing itself around the track-

I think yours may take a little tuning down :)

It would have to run a standard Turbo unfortunately, and the minimum weight would be dependant on which turbo you choose i.e. K03 and K04.

By the way appologies if there are any typos in all this my 2 yr old has dropped his sweets in my laptop so most of the keys are dodgy particularly the 'K' which requires a good whack to work!!!

you wont be able to keep away from the VAG series Ian if the leons are allowed in

Bills motor would need halfing in power LOL

Mine will be too high spec to drop back into the V.A.G Trophy, we are looing at Britcar GT's rather than Britcar Productions provided the budget will stretch to the longer races,

We want to take the fight to the slower Porsche GT3's :)

Sounds like a mighty fast car then - when you get to know the car better, it will be interesting to hear how it compares with your Lupo which (on the face of things at least, but I dont really know) I would have thought was much less developed than the Leon

thats a shame. std turbo's kills any idea of mine.
600bhp/tonne is where i want to be playing with other kit in an ibiza wrapper. :D

slick shod ideally with some hope of traction in maybe a couple of gears - lol

Leon Cup cars are awesome spec. well built by seat sport. mk2 ones even more so with their aero pack. super fast cars. DSG, up the power on a 2.0tfsi motor and you will have a very quick racecar
