i know youve had your problems, but the fact is youve unfortunately bought a lemon.

wards 10 best engines (last 4 years)

1.8-2.0 international engine of the year (last 4 years)

i hope you get it sorted.

In reality mate, its not the best engine, there are many many common faults which occur with these engines. More and more you will see people reporting now the engines are maturing.

For example:
Cam wear,
Poor DV design,
Weak PCV valve,
Intake manifold runner flap failure..
etc..

i dont know where these people draw the line with what they call 'the engine' and bits you bolt onto the engine (other than the cam obviously).

and your right, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. but in these engines the weakest link is still pretty strong though.

en angine is pretty much everything inside the bay.. and engine block is pretty useless without all the above... :)

The new TSI engine fixes most of these inherent design faults :)

oh well bmw are having more issues with their 335i's lol. Mine will probably be gone before the warranty runs out.

I just got this problem last night, Trying to get someone to vagcom the car tonight, my mate will hopefully do it after his work.

Could you see where the regulator had broke? I want to check mine to make sure thats what it is.

Last night after it happened i went out to the car and the engine cover seemed loose.

If it gets vagcom'd tonight i will hopefully get it to seat 2moro.

Not sure. Owens engine cover was pretty badly butchered in the end but he runs a Dbilas now. VAGCOM will show what the fault is if you have an engine mgt light.

If you are using a genuine cable, then the VAGCOM software will give the option to choose Leon 1P from the menu if you are doing a scan, but if you go in to the engine module from the main menu and look for fault codes, it will pick it up what car its interogating automatically :)

when mine broke its where the cable went into the connector, you will need to revome the engine cover to see it but it will be ovious when you do.

should be something like fuel pressure sensor fault iirc.

Tried my vagcom cable but it didny work cos its not a real one, works with the older cars though.

If i don't get anyone to vagcom it tonight i will just take it to seat 2moro and see what they say...
