I feel for you mate. Been there years ago. Insurance depends on so many variables. My Golf R on a 16 plate costs me £265 fully comp, protected no claims but I'm 47 and have an hgv licence plus years of no claims. Area makes a difference too.

My area is quite good I think, keep it on a drive and all that stuff, think it’s just my age mainly but as far as I’m concerned I’ll be just as reckless with 300bhp now as I will be in a 15 months when I turn 25! I guess statistics speak for themselves! One day I’ll have insurance below £1000 p/a, just not today...

I got my insurance through esure. I got screwed over with insurance due to getting the phone call in the morning to pick my car up that day so the insurance quotes were coming at around £800. I am 26 and took that policy with 0 NCB as it was my first second car purchase. Anyway, I took out the insurance, re-checked / updated the quote on comparethemarket a week later and it came out as £500 (with esure again..). Contacted esure and they told me to cancel my current insurance (within 14 days cooling off period) and just re-take it again for £500 with no penalties etc.

How did you get it so cheap I'm 28 this month no claims or convictions 11 years driving and esure just quoted me £2300 on a cupra 300 which I'm due to pick up in April

Difficult to say why yours is so expensive, but there are a number of factors which could contribute like your area, where you keep the vehicle etc.

No idea how there are some early 20s Cupra owners though - my quotes are £2000+ aged 24. Even costing me about £1100 on the 1.8 TSI FR I’m picking up in March.
