Hi guys.

Just noticed i got a cracked spoke on one of my rims, pot hole i guess!!

I dont want to put aftermarket alloys on so was wondering if anyone has or knows where i can get 1 or set depending on price, i have tyres but if they come with, so be it. They are 18" twin spoke 5 point standard cupra R rims.

Bit pissed off so help would be appriciated.

thanks.

i didnt think you could repair if its cracked? one of the spokes is cracked right through, still been using the car as i have no choice (dont know if safe to do or not). Looking a a couple on Ebay right now. heres hoping!!

thanks for the response.

This happened to two of mine, the standard LCR wheel is garbage.

Take it to a welding company and they will tell you there and then of they cam do it. But you will have to get it painted after it's repaired.

hi...dont usually come over to the mk1 side...as i have a mk4 ibiza....

I found a crack on one of my facelift FR wheels...quite rare to find as well as about 160 new....went to numerous places to see if it could be repaired.....

1)lots of places said no way...as the crack would have to be cut out and then new alloy welded in...these welds would have to be very strong...so guess depends on size of crack and how much new metal is welded back in...
2)some said definately could be repaired but no idea on how safe it would be...

Me personally, went for new set of alloys, just could nt justify paying bit less and then compromising my car, myself and other road users if the weld didnt hold up etc

Down to the size of the crack and your personal feelings, as some places will repair it, but maybe wont give you impartial advice about how safe it will be...and are just focused on the £££ they can get
