Hi Guys,

Anyone had to replace their gear stick knob due to wear? Any idea if you can get them from dealer and price?

Mine's looking a bit tatty just around the edge of the top insert.

I'd be interested to know how much a replacement costs (and whether that could be covered by warranty!)

Yep i got mine exchanged on warranty as the red band around the top was flaking off!

Another 1 of the many millions of faults the leon is prone to:censored:

You got that right mate!

I'm getting a bit hacked off with all the little things that keep going wrong.

What else has gone wrong with yours then?

Im mainly fed up with the poor interior quality. Rattles ect. Love the car, the power, everything..except the rattles from the interior.

Rear window jet freezing up and bursting the pipe leaving a wet boot floor
Gearknob
Engine coolant temp sensor
Engine coolant level sensor (Expansion tank)
Maf problem
Rear boot rattle
Flaking brembo callipers and flaking rear callipers
Crap paint work leaving my car with a million stone chips!
Weathered R badges, needing replaced every 10-15000miles!

And these unfortunately are all very common faults.

The only 1 i haven't had yet is coil pack failure! Touch wood!

Vag build quality  Its supposed to be renound for being very good! I think the seat leon is only made on a friday afternoon when the spaniards are due for their siesta!

Most are little things that just annoy me. The dealer's customer service (or lack of) doesn't help:

1. replaced all "R" badges as old ones had corroded (replacement badges have also now corroded)
2. new radiator fans, as slow speed fuse had blown
3. two new windscreens (on a two-year old car!), after they mysteriously cracked all by themselves - Seat accept no responsibility, Autoglass (who my insurer insists I use) says it is not covered by their lifetime warranty
4. silver bits flaking off the "Cupra R" badge on the steering wheel
5. occasional misting inside the headlights
6. gear knob getting tatty
7. squeak/creak from the dashboard. Fixed once by replacing the dials, but it's back
8. (best one) when my first set of front tyres needed replacing, the dealer said they couldn't do it. They were worried about scrathing the alloys. Took it to a backstreet garage who whipped them off in no time (with no scratches).
9. mysterious creak from the offside rear.

There's probably other things that I've forgotten too........

Mate, as to ur comments with seat service...Theres a trick with seat. Soon as you buy the car...Pick a Vag specialist..and never go back to the dealer again unless its warranty work.

changed mine for this the day i picked mine up

I've just ordered a carbon one from the dealer, gonna take a look Saturday and see if I like it. One of the few main dealers that will let you order non stock items and not have to buy them if you don't like them:)

anyone know how to change the gear nob, as i have a new one to put on!!!

Very easy, carefull unclip the bottom plastic cover allowing you then to see underneath the gator, little clip holding the knob to the stick slip that out, knob shd come off, on my new knob it came with a clip that didnt fit so i used the one that was already there.
push knob on to stick with a slap, replace plactic cover, jobs a goodern
