Have you still got the centre res fitted? What year golf r estate exhaust do you have?

the gpf st doesnt have a center res and the rear boxes are from a 7.5 golf r estate its a nicer sound but still quite muffled no overun pops or farts ect

I know the gpf doesn’t have the centre res. Just asking incase you had left it in.

I have a pre gpf cupra st, golf r estate mk7.5 system with the res left in yet I get dsg farts and its considerably louder than the standard exhaust. Strange.

I would think with the back boxes removed you can expect a lot of drone.

BCS exhaust are expensive but very good! There valved aswell

ahh sorry well both systems (standard and golf r) didn't have centre res as both are from gpf equipped cars, a lot of my sound suppression comes from the twin gpfs i think so i didn't know if deleting both rear boxes would be much louder just to hear farts etc. cheers

I have a ST 300 pre GPF 67 plate 4 drive and took the resonator out. In cupra mode I get them which is why I avoided 68 plate or newer GPF fitted cars. They just kill all the sound. Not sure what you can do apart from trying to remove the GPF. The backbox might give you the sound but it'll drone a horrendous amount.

Yeah it was a debate when I was searching for a 300 but really wanted a 7 speed with digi dash ect so got my 2019 one and love everything about it except for its lack of noise and being my first dsg I would really love some farts haha I've looked into a gpf delete and the cost is just going to be too much I think thanks for your reply ;)

It's a trade off. I prefer the 6 speed and manual clocks but can always retrofit a virtual one. I wanted the noise and I've tried a gpf one but it's just got nothing so don't think I'll ever touch one. But, that's just me :) Best of luck in your hunt for the noise of the EA888 though!

Back Box delete is going to drone like mad, there are enough people on the FB groups going on about it.

If you don't want to go for a full aftermarket system like the Remus, but still avoid drone, I think your next step is get the back boxes cut open and any sound deadening removed. The back box size/shape will help stop the drone, but should be louder. You may also be able to route the internals to make it louder too. There is a post on here showing the internals of a Cupra ST exhaust, and its defo setup for reducing noise.

Yeah I'm starting to think this I've studied that thread over and over and I beleive the mods they do internally are to mimic the golf r estate rear boxes which I have I stalled already so can't really do much to them withougj basically making it a straight through box anyway unless removing the deadening material like you say would get me what I'm looking for cheers buddy!

I didn't think anyone had chopped open the Golf R system yet, just the Cupra version.

Ahh ok well maybe I'll have to have a go myself and look inside mine I thought I had seen one opened up and it's more or less straight through with a small gap between the pipes

My 300 hatchback came with a backbox delete at least (haven't had a chance to get it on a lift and check everything underneath) and the drone is pretty bad at 1800rpm (which is exactly 50mph in 6th)

Has anyone has any experience with getting a switchable valve installed? I like the appeal of having it quiet/loud whenever I want but also hoping it'll sort the drone

Apparently this is the internal difference pic 1 is golf r rear box and pic 2 is the cupra rear box

If that Pic 1 is the Golf R rear box, its the pre facelift. The pre facelift was the same system as the Cupra with only 1 exit, each side. It just didn't have a exahust tip welded on. As the actual exhaust tips were integrated into the bumper for the Golf R....

The facelifted Golf R exhaust has 4 proper tips. that exit the rear silencer as you probably know :)

Well spotted!! But it still internally is more straight through rather than redirected through baffles presumably because there is a center silencer on the 7 estate I wonder if my 7.5 rear boxes revert back to the cupra style due to being the only silencers in the system only one way to find out I guess
