I find there's a lot in the argument the driver has a lot to do with how quick the car is from A-B rather than it all being down to the car's spec BUG4LIFE

Haven't looked at my thread in a bit! I reckon a Cupra TDi would certainly fit the bill, 50mpg but still a bit of a laugh when I feel like it - I think the problem is going to be finding one as there just isn't a big selection of Cupra TDi's about
I think it's going to come down to a Cupra or an Alfa 147 [it just looks so damn good]. Other potentials; Focus might just bore me to tears, Mk4 Golf 150 TDi is going to be a good few years older than everything else and the 130 VAG TDi's might just not have the power? I've got a wildcard too, an E46 BMW 320d Compact....a tad ugly but RWD

I would google 320d turbo problems first.
Best bet is to test em out. If you can find one

Will do mate - I think I do remember someone mentioning 320d problems on another forum now you say that!
I think the main problem I've got with the Focus is the duuuuuuuull styling, not that that's the most important factor in my choice. I might have to have a look as Ford do make good drivers cars.

What power / Torque would a standard 2005 Ibiza Cupra tdi be putting out if i did the following £2,200 worth of modifications to it:
Hybrid Turbo - £700
Sachs Clutch - £700
Air Filter - which is best? - £100
Full turbo back Milltek exhaust - £500
Remapped - £200
220bhp & 350ft/lbs Torque maybe?
What else could i do to the car without running into problems with the head gasket, gearbox, pistons & rods etc?

Sounds realistic. Where are you getting those prices though?
May also wanna budget for a lsd.
LSD is the single best thing I've ever done to mine.
I still think a couple of the prices are on the low side. Especially the map price.
Only other thing you could add would be water/meth injection
Driven my mates type r fitted with plated diff, amazing.
I would do it tomorrow, but the cost of the diff plus fitting... rather large sum.
Add in clutch, flywheel, release bearing, slave cylinder, and gearbox rebuild with chryo treatment and you can imagine my pain

Lol I actually bought my Ibiza to save money while still having something nippy
I have had it 6 years though. In the 6 years before that, I probably owned 50 cars. So maybe this is saving me money
