Hi,

I have been searching for an ibiza cupra tdi for a while now and i have found one, however its an 05 plate and has done 65000ish miles. Its the pre face lift model and its going for just over 7k.

Is the mileage too high for the price? Does the pre facelift model have 6 gears?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

There all 6 speed, i just paid £6100 for a 05 plate with 53k and full seat history from a dealer

There isn't really a pre-facelift Cupra as they didn't come out half way through 2004 anyway. The only differences between an 05 plate and say an 07 plate are things like the steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake button. The later ones have a different Cupra logo too. Mechanically, they are the same.

i mite be selling my tdi 130sport with all the cupra bits, it a 52 plate with 68 on the clock remapped alot cheaper than that other price of over 7k if ur interested???? totally mint in and out

I probably should have had a look in the for sale section! My only worry is that i do quite a few miles to work so starting at 65k miles seems a lot. Do you think i could get much off the price, say push for 6k?

Went to see the car yesterday, looks tidy apart from the front tyres are quite worn, and the brake calipers slightly faded. Going for a test drive tomorrow, i have only driven an fr tdi before so it should be good to compare the two.

The dealer reckons that he wont be able to do too much on the price, £6750 05 plate with 65k on the clock. Do you think i could push for more off the price?

Abosolutely, its a 6k car all day long, offer him 6, if he says no, leave your number and tell him to ring you when he changes his mind.

I paid £6100 ( started off at £6795) with 55k from a dealer with 12 months unlimited mileage warranty, who as we speak are fitting a new turbo, intercooler and complete exhaust FOC.

I was thinking of offering 6k but i dont think he will accept, its worth a try though. Is there anything i should look out for when viewing and test driving the car?

All the obvious stuff like check under the oil cap for mould etc...

Check for slip between the 2k and 3k rpm mark. thats where the clutches go,
Has it had its 55,000 service? its the big one, should have new timing belt and oil filter
check all the casings for the front lights are there (mine wern't)

MAKE SURE THE SPARE WHEEL IS AN ALLOY!! the spare must be an alloy because they are the only wheels that will fit over the front calipers!

Hi,

Drove it today and it was awesome. I didn't notice any clutch slip, and its got a full service history and its done 65k so the 55k service is out the way. I managed to get the dealer down to £6500 with a new tyre and alloy refurb all round. Should i push for more off the price? A full tank of fuel maybe? He seemed very reluctant to give any more.

I did notice the car took a bit of time to get up to speed in first gear, but maybe that was my bad driving ! I dont know a huge amount about cars so the help is much appreciated.

Yeah, I s'pose that's due to the power band (2k -4k). With a petrol you can touch 6k in first and therefore your speed will be a fair bit more bofore you need to hook 2nd.

There are some down sides to derv you know :D

1st gear in my old Cupra TDI was pretty useless! It's just to get you moving really..get into 2nd as quick as possible.

Thanks for the advice, tbh it didn't feel that slow in first gear cos im used to driving a corsa! Its going to be quite an upgrade. I think i have made my mind up that i want the car, its pretty much in mint condition apart from a few small scratches and they are refurbing the alloys for me.

Now just trying to push for a 12 month warranty and i will finally be joining the seat club! :funk:

Thanks for the info, the timing belts should be changed then as its done 65k.
