dont cut your springs. it could kill you or others. reducing your cars handling over looks is total madness.

But strangely something many people on this and other forums are happy to do - they spend a fortune modifying it for performance gains and then spend sweet FA on decent tyres and handling mods. Image over substance is the world we now live in.

No, just no. Its not worth the risk of your life and the lives of others as it can be very dangerous. If you cant afford purpose built kits then dont bother.

Ha ha i dint think this post would cause so much controversy, yer some forums do seem to support cutting springs although ive always thought it as a big NO lol. I will just leave it as is, untill i get my coillies, stick to my "no spring cutting" campain lol, thanks for all your opinions lads, Sam

How about buy a couple of bags of Sand from B&Q and put them in the boot!:p

Reducing spring travel (by cutting some of the spring off) but not increasing the stiffness of the spring to compensate, means your car is far more likely to bottom out on the bump stops, and as someone said above, it can fling you off the road when the wheel comes out of a big pothole. Do that at speed and/or on a bend and you're in trouble - as is whoever you're heading towards.

Shorter springs have to be stiffer, so it still takes the same amount of force to reach the bumpstop.
