Hello there,

A bit of a random question ladies and gents!

You know on the dash cluster, there are lights for when the door opens, the boot opens and the washer fluid level is low! Is it just a case of getting the car on vag com and enabling them or is this function only available on higher specs??? Mine is an 07 1.4 Sport and doesn't have any of them working!

Also, as the backbox is hidden on mine, (no cutout for the exhaust) would it be possible to modify and fit the standard Cupra backbox or is it just worth getting a twin chrome trim and just fitting that? I'm not after any performance gains, I drive like a grandad anyway!lol Just purely for the looks :funk:

Thanks in advance!!!

I've thought the same thing mate, i'm sure it's to do with higher specs and all that. I think most of the v.w group cars share similar components like that, so on some cars they'll have them, some not :)

Ah gutted, just thought it might be one of those little freebie mods!!! I was expecting the washer bottle one to perhaps be a new bottle and a bit of a loom etc. But the door and boot lights I would have thought are the same loom!!!

Do the door open and open boot open lights operate on the FR and Cupra models?

I have these too, all the lights in the cluster, only noticed them the other day in the strong sunlight ... learn something new everyday! :D

Was discussing with my mate how much work it would take to get this "retro-fitted", would be quite a big job, lots of new sensors needed, lots of wire, lots of taking bits apart, let alone having to tell the ECU what all the new stuff is and what to with it...

It would be nice to have some of it's features mind you, and I bet if Seat had fitted it as standard they would've have hooked it up to the same speaker as the low fuel warning, just for a laugh.... :funk:

Open the boot with the keys in the ignition .... BEEEEEEEEP
Open the bonnet with engine running ...... BEEEEEEEEP
Brake pads worn down .... BEEEEEEEP
Run out of screenwash .... you guessed it .... BEEEEEEEP

Dogs from all over the country would be sitting outside your car in seconds! - They are the only species on earth that can here that sound properly!

Right I have decided that once mine is out of warrenty i'm going to do this! :) I know it sounds fussy, but really annoys me that there are warning lights there, that just dont work!lol

For the door open and boot lights, just going to run my own loom! Will only need to be a single wire, with a ground behind the clocks! I can imagine the washer bottle being a bit more fussy, but figured that when I fit the auto lights and wipers I would just do the whole lot!:)

Does anyone know if the Cupra petrol exhaust will fit the 1.4 85bhp? Just the back box! Oh and how much is it for the rear vallance with the cutout for the exhaust from the steelers?

Cheers guys
