my side lights on, warning light ( the lil green one near the left end of the dash when your lights are on) is going, i just bash the dash

Yeah I did..
Had to unscrew the to bolts at the back of it and the airbag plops out...
EAsy enough though
ahh serves you right for having a "safe" car... airbags are for pussies

tis on my list of things to swap the spedo with one with a rev counter.. and pray that the ECU gives it as a output :S
Lol. Nationwide Autocentre are going to charge me £50 to change 3 of my dahboard bulbs. Bloody cowboys. Can someone please give us a link as to where I can buy the bulbs online? I will go and give the dash a few slaps to see if they come on. Bloody electrical niggles are pissing me off. The light for the heater controls have also gone.

only get them from Dealerships. Call your nearest. If they're too far away, I'm sure they can always post them to you. Couple of quid

ye a tiny 286 one in the centre that glows white through a plastic optic spider type thing
the red and colours come from the inlay with the graphics on
my column is adjustable and airbag so i just tilted mine down to get the speedo out

One more quick question. Where are the heater switches light? I took out the matrix but I cant find the light anywhere.
ok,, i saw that sinlge bulb behind the heater controls.
my problem is that only the middle control is lighting , but both sides are dark. some one told me it's the graphics not letting any light out of them.
is it the bulb being weak and not giving enough light to enlight the whole place? any one got a similar problem?
also my rev is sometimes dim-not completly dark- and sometimes especially when i knock on the dash it becomes clear again. is it the bulb off or it's working but dim?

It is possible to remove the speedo cluster without removing your steering wheel if you have tilt adjustable steering. I had a 99 GTi 8v and I removed my clock assemby twice without removing the wheel.
You need to lower the steering wheel to its lowest point, and turn the wheel as you move the clocks into the space of the wheel. Also small hands help to undo the wiring at the back of the assembly.
Please note though it is an absolute b*stard.
