For the mk3 the service light can be done on the dash with no tools the inspection light will need Odis/vcds or similar

Tools very basic for the service not sure on your engine but

Sump 19mm across all engines

under tray t25 (some engines have 3 t45's at the back)

32mm oil filter tool (1.8 and cupra use 24mm) 1.2tsi use 77m oil filter socket believe 15 sides

air filter t25

Fuel filters (diesel non exeo) T20

Major service on a 2.0 184 or 1.8 tsi can be done in less than 15 mins from driving car in to getting it out - paper work filling out health checks etc

Having done so many miles I've had the spark plugs replaced twice already, both times the dealership broke some of the coils. Apparently they are very brittle and easily crumble so be careful removing them.

If it's anything like the Mk2's, resetting the service reminders via the dashboard controls puts the car onto a fixed annual service schedule regardless of what service schedule the car was previously on. Resetting the service reminders for flexible long life servicing can only be done by the dealer tools or VAG specific diagnostic tools (i.e. VCDS, OBDeleven etc.).

It might be different on the Mk3's (someone else might know) but something to keep in mind if your car is currently on long life servicing and you want it to remain that way.
