I'm sure there would be someone local to you with VCDS willing to reset it when you service the car for a few pennies
I made a mistake, the guy at work has a Citroen, not a Peugeot. Same thing really.
I think I'll service the Leon myself if I can be confident that I have all the correct service items and schedule. Right now I have no clue what the heck it needs! Would also like a ODB tool that lets me reset the service light.
When I had the Primera GT I had a laptop and software that gave you total access to the ECU. It was amazing what you could do, although thinking about it a lot less than you can do today ;0)
I can't see a dealer stamping the book if they haven't done the service.
Typically what I did was the basic service and brake stuff, any repairs I thought I could manage and get a dealer to do the stuff I didn't fancy or thought I couldn't do. For example, on the Mazda I had a cracked coolant manifold that was going to be a pain to replace so I got a dealer to do it. Turned out to be a good call as they had problems and it took much longer than expected.
Yip, that's what I always do. The buyer gets handed a big folder of receipts etc. I even have the original sales brochures for the Leon.[/QUOTE
I currently have 3 folder packs that are growing very quickly, my previous car, I just handed a resume of everything that had been done to that car over its 13 years, from new - the new owner, a friend was not interested in the huge folder of "very interesting stuff" including initial quote to buy from a broker in Holland, all tickets and costs associated with collecting it, VAT reg'ng forms etc! My wife's previous car, an imported Polo, was traded in 13 year as well, I slipped a full record of everything that had been done to that car under the spare wheel, so hopefully someone made use of it.
Well, the level of complexity of the electronic systems and the way VW/SEAT have tied the car up to their computers for one. There are more bits on the car that you have little hope of fixing in the drive and keeping up a good relationship with the dealer might pay of if you need help in the future.
Also, I don't know exactly what needs done on the car. Years ago they put a list of the service items in the handbook. Not so today, and with cars getting evermore complex I'm worried I miss something.
Yes there is, but they charge £35 a time. That's gona get old pretty quickly.

No reputable garage would do that. By stamping their name in the book they are taking responsibility for the work. There is no way they would stamp their name to work the car's owner did at home. Not a chance.
Yes, I'm agreeing with you.
Thanks for bringing us back on topic. As we can get access to erwin is it possible to get them ourselvesHaha Not often people do had me confused
On the original topic Main dealer service is not particularly inclusive of major checks that somebody at home could not do themselves with reasonable mechanical knowledge.
Don't have any copies of the sheets as they are printed out specifically for each vehicle from Elsa pro
If you want some more detailed information on servicing I can answer and specific questions been a little while since I've serviced the mk3's but have done a few hundred or so.
Well, I can't get things fixed while the car is still under warranty so feck them! If they'd looked after me a bit better I might be more inclined but I'm pissed off with them right now.
