Right so it's been a little while since I have posted anything. There had been a lot going on internally within the interior of the car over the winter but it's far from finished so I won't give anything away just yet.
However this week it was time to service the old girl and fit the oil cooler I have had sitting around for ages.
Firstly I got a service kit for the 007p which included new o rings and a revised piston. I took it all apart, cleaned it all up and greased and fitted the new bits then polished it up once back together again.
Then it had this lot fitted, so major service...
And a 19 row Mocal oil cooler with thermostatic sandwich plate. Should definitely keep the temps down when driving it hard for prolonged periods.
Got some new custom mats to tidy up the interior too. Really like them.
That will probably be it for a little while. Got some things that need ironing out and finishing off but il post them up when it's done probably throughout the spring.
Just waiting for the nicer weather so she can get a proper days detail after the harsh winter she's had.
Brilliant project! Enjoyed the read, did you find the cold air feed helped the Ramair filter? I have one fitted with the Ramair heatshield and im sure it feels more sluggish...
Cheers dude. The cold air intake needs sorting so it's actually fixed to the grille and not just sitting behind like it is now. When that's done it should force air in as it's supposed to so I will be able to answer that soon.
When the summer wheels go back on il have the wheel arch liners out to get better access and sort it. Watch this space.
Another thing that's been bugging me for a while is my cold air feed to the air filter. It's just sat in behind the fog grille and not connected so is actually probably not doing an awful lot to force air in. So I got to work on it.
Had to chop the fog mount out to start with for room.
Then coupled an 80mm silicone pipe into the cold air feed.
Then coupled this directly onto the rear of the fog grille sealing it all.
Routed it up behind the intercooler pipe and headlight and back up to the filter and into the heat shield.
Well happy. A nice sealed ram air style cold air intake fit for purpose. Should see a nice difference to intake temps I should think.
Good work fella, looking very tidy. In regards of the skirts do they just unscrew as mine need some attention or are there any rivetted or bonded sections?
So the work continued this week with the underside of the car. Over the years garages have clearly destroyed my jacking points and now the underseal literally does not exist on them.
So I got to wire brushing it all back and treating the metal to a rust converter before cleaning off and undersealing.
Another thing I can forget about for now.
So basically I spent the best part of two half days cleaning and sorting things that cannot even be seen but it was really satisfying knowing it would help in the long run and things that the car had never had done in its life.
So while it was in the air I clayed and sealed the summer wheels and popped them on.
Now it just leaves the bodywork to get on with when time allows.
