rite...went back to the garage that fitted the coilys...turns out the heat shield was vibrating against the flexi pipe...they moved it out the way, and it stopped the noise, but its back now, so i guess it's dropped down again...is it nething to worry about?

haha Dave that garage are gonna get tired of me and you keep going over there with our "knocks, squeaks and rattles" :D

at least they seem to have found the problem! just keeping it fixed seems to be the issue now!
"the member" who rashcupra was speaking to at the Pod was me! i'm still waiting for my new shorter droplinks to arrive from Big Boys Toys! they said it would be 1-2 working days and that was on thursday!
i had the car pencilled in at the garage to fit them at 10 this morning but as they haven't turned up so i have had to temporarily cancel!

i know, its not very good! they still haven't turned up!
turns out that even though i ordered them on thurs, they weren't ordered by BBT until friday, then the weekend, then there was a Bank Holiday in Holland (where they are coming from) on monday so they weren't actually posted until yesterday.
just bad timing i guess, but now gonna have to wait til next week to get them fitted!

well they finally turned up yesterday and i'm booked in on yuesday to have them fitted! hopefully will be one less noise to worry about!:funk:

DaveFR...hello mate....seing how i now have your coilovers, and am anticipating fitting, should i be expecting any weird noises to be coming from my engine bay, or is this problem only common on diesel engines??

i have now fitted the coilovers! i am having a rattling sound also, but i sounds like a nut or something i rolling about on the undercarriage of the car or somthing quite hard to explain. SOUNDS quite audible when rolling in neutral.. What is it!??

is it coming from the front or rear? my exhaust rattledon the rear beam (axle) when i slammed my car

does it do it when stationary??

MORE INFO PLEASE :D

its a very hard noise to explain... :( it doesnt do it while stationary. It seems to me that there is two different noises. From the front, the noise KINDA sounds like a metal flap or metal to metal sound but only when rolling or low speeds in 1st / 2nd. the second sound comes from the back, it sounds like a bolt or something i rolling around in the spare wheel well! dont read me example of the noise and prescribe i check if there is anything rolling around as i took everything out to see if it would go away...... it didnt :help: If it helps the coilovers im refering to are Dave FR PD130 ol' ones!

suggestions!???

id go exhaust on the rear and cheack the arb bars and wheelsheild at the front could even be top mounts mate

i doubt its the top mounts to be honest as the caar has only coverd 18k! yes 18K on a 53 plate 1.2 sx :)...

to be a bit more definitive the noise sounds like its coming/resonating around the centre console/gearstick/footpedal area, so the middle of the car just left of my driving seat (RHD)

thats where thecatalyst converter is need it up on a ramp but then why would it happen as soon as coilovers are fitted???? coinsidence

i tell you what...to add more spanners into the works...When the car is cold, (pre coilovers) i used to get a very irratating low rev grumble when in first or second. after it has warmed up i dont hear it anymore...

i was advised elsewhere the grumbling noise i hear is from a aux belt that needs tensioning....

:help: its scary! :help:
