The wiring's childsplay, as mines another glove box stealthy one, I can't help with the mount, but I think most people have used the brodit clip.

Ian, to set up the thing in shuffle mode, do you have to operate the iPod every time you enter the car or can this mode be switched on by pressing more than two seconds the RND keys of the headunit (key 4 or maybe 6) ???

Thanks

My Ipod is in two protective cases wedged in the small gap in the dashboard between the steering wheel and the pedals. The Becker kit I've got charges it, powers it up and down, and shows the album/song tags etc so no need for the ipod or any mounts to be in sight, or even in the Glovebox which is one one the first places an opportunistic thief would look, especially if there's a mount on show.

Paul

Got any pics of that? Sounds like a nice install...

I forgot to get a cradle mount... d'oh  ... anybody know where I can go and buy a Brodit Proclip Angle Mount for a 00-05 Leon so I can install all of this on Saturday?

Can get one tomorrow, although there's nothing on show, I didn't use a cradle.

I found the Ipod 5G in its standard case fits very nicely into my big bulky old HP Ipaq 2210 Case, which in turn fits very snugly into the gap in the dashboard. Didn't need a cradle, its completely out of site but takes me 10 secs to get out the car. Just ran the cable through the dash, a cable tie so it doesn't drop down near the pedals and left a bit of slack so I can remove it from the car when I update it. I rarely remove it from the car tho.

Hi Munu, all you need to do is select shuffle songs on the ipod once and provided you leave it connected it always plays on random. There maybe another way, but I've not found it yet.

Thanks Ian.
Have you tried to connect the iPod and, instead of selecting random mode from it, press headunit key number 4 or number 6 for more than two seconds to see if iPod enters in random mode??

Would be nice, eh?

Sorry, I completely forgot. I'll check this evening and let you know. Might not have access to an internet connection until Friday though, I'll see what I can do.

Hey, Ian.... very anxious here to know about the random thing.... post when you can the answer

Thx

I tried it and it didn't seem to make much difference. I tried the 2 random buttons and the ipod still seemed to be playing them sequentially. But it's dead easy to set the ipod to shuffle and just plug it in. It will then play randomly until you select a specific album/playlist etc.

any help?

It works on mine Ian, although you do have to hold the buttons down for quite a while.
The shuffle symbol comes up on the iPod too after you've pressed the button down on the HU :)

I managed to get it working, but I did change the interface to use the iPod interface... so I can control the iPod directly... works nicely

Thanks guys, all of you.... it was the last thing to convince myself about getting this interface...
I'll buy one next week definetely

Cheers

I always use that setting too, I find it so much quicker than using the headunit, and the iPod is right next to the HU on mine anyway!
